FactoryTalk® View

Ordering guide
FactoryTalk View is a family of Human Machine Interface (HMI) software products used to design, build
and run your operator interface applications. The FactoryTalk View family consists of FactoryTalk® View
Site Edition (SE) and FactoryTalk® View Machine Edition (ME), each with appropriate add-ons for designing
and extending the system. This ordering guide will help you to determine which FactoryTalk View products
are best suited to your needs.

Key considerations to keep in mind:

1 Beginning with V13 in April 2022, the FactoryTalk View SE product offering has been simplified to make it easier to select
and purchase everything needed to build an HMI system. Key changes include:
• FactoryTalk View SE servers are now offered as a bundle that includes the HMI server with 5, 10, or 25 clients, plus
unlimited FactoryTalk® ViewPoint web clients.
• All server bundles now include unlimited displays; there is no longer a need to pre-determine the number of displays an

application will require.


• There are now only two options for single-station applications: Station (unlimited displays plus unlimited FactoryTalk
ViewPoint web clients), or Station Lite (25 displays plus unlimited FactoryTalk ViewPoint web clients).
2 Add-on options for the server and station bundles include FactoryTalk® View Studio, clients or read-only clients, and a
redundant server. It is no longer necessary to purchase FactoryTalk ViewPoint licenses if you are running V11 or later of
FactoryTalk View SE; unlimited web clients are now always included.*
3 FactoryTalk View Studio is available in both Enterprise and Machine Edition versions. FactoryTalk View Studio Enterprise
can be used to develop either FactoryTalk View SE or ME applications. FactoryTalk View Studio for Machine Edition can be
used to develop only FactoryTalk View ME applications, that will run on either a PanelView™ Plus terminal or a PC running
FactoryTalk View ME Station.
4 FactoryTalk View ME Station products sold on our software portal offer volume pricing. The volume discount is applied
automatically to product in your Cart.
With its new product offering, FactoryTalk View SE products no longer offer volume pricing.
5 All FactoryTalk View products can be purchased as a Subscription or as Perpetual with Maintenance.

Select the right product for your application
Apply these key considerations and determine which FactoryTalk View product family is best for you.

Assemble the system


STEP 2

For FactoryTalk View ME single workstation applications, order:


• FactoryTalk View Studio for Machine Edition design environment. If developing both FactoryTalk View ME and FactoryTalk
View SE applications, ordering FactoryTalk View Studio Enterprise is recommended.
• FactoryTalk View ME Station (15, 30, 75, 250, or 500 display).
For FactoryTalk View SE single workstation applications, order:
• FactoryTalk View Studio Enterprise design environment.
• FactoryTalk View SE Station (unlimited displays) or FactoryTalk View SE Station Lite (25 displays). Unlimited FactoryTalk
ViewPoint web clients are included with both station options.
For FactoryTalk View SE distributed applications, order:
• FactoryTalk View Studio Enterprise design environment.
• FactoryTalk View SE Server bundle:
o Small bundle includes unlimited display server, 5 clients, and unlimited FactoryTalk ViewPoint web clients.
o Medium bundle includes unlimited display server, 10 clients, and unlimited FactoryTalk ViewPoint web clients.
o Large bundle includes unlimited display server, 25 clients, and unlimited FactoryTalk ViewPoint web clients
• FactoryTalk View SE Redundant Server for redundant applications.
• If additional clients are required, order add-on FactoryTalk View SE Clients (read/write and read-only options available).
STEP 3 Subscription or perpetual? Your choice.
You must determine whether Subscription or Perpetual with Maintenance licensing works best for you.
With Subscription, you have the flexibility to purchase only what you need now and expand over time. Your upfront costs are
lower and maintenance, which includes both technical support and software updates, is included as part of the annual cost.
Perpetual with Maintenance has a higher upfront cost with a lower annual cost for maintenance. Learn more.

Build your order


STEP 4

Once you’ve decided what you need, it’s time to build out your order. You complete the ordering process on our Software Portal.
From the main page, select a product family and make specific product selections to add to your cart. When completed, follow
the checkout process to complete your order.
Software Portal tips:
• Choose the FactoryTalk View SE product family to order any FactoryTalk View SE Station or server bundle, add-on clients, a
redundant server, or FactoryTalk View Studio Enterprise.
• Select the FactoryTalk View ME product family to order FactoryTalk View ME Station or FactoryTalk View Studio ME.
• On the product family page, select the product, select the license type (Subscription or Perpetual with Maintenance), select
the support level desired and add Media (physical DVD) if desired – then add the product to your Cart.

* As of FactoryTalk View SE V13, activation is no longer required to implement web clients in a system. FactoryTalk ViewPoint
is included as a built-in feature with no additional cost. FactoryTalk ViewPoint is also included with versions 11 and 12 of
FactoryTalk View SE with a patch installed.
