Lesson Idea
☐ Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations.
☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.
X Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their learning
and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached by
displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom
blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.
Lesson idea implementation: Write a paragraph describing how the lesson will be
implemented using the prompts as your guide:

(water, soil, and light). Students will research different types of plants and choose
which type of seed they want to make their story book about. Students will
collaborate with each other to use technology to create a PowerPoint story about
chosen plant. Teacher will assist with technology and recording of their book. Teacher
will provide feedback on their story boards and their presentations. Their
presentations should include pictures, words and the recordings. The lesson will end
with the students presenting their stories to the class and receiving peer feedback.
Managing the technology/engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that
gets students actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts? How will you manage the
classroom behaviors on the technology:
Students will create a written storyboard prior to creating their PowerPoints. Their
storyboards should include the exact words for their story and the picture ideas they have.
The students will have an allotted time period to work on this assignment.
