Biblical Worldview Integration:

Homeostasis is the ability of living organisms to maintain a stable internal
environment despite external changes. It involves the regulation and balance of
various physiological processes to ensure optimal conditions for cells and organ
systems. Homeostasis reflects God's design for order, stability, and optimal
functioning within His creation.

Meeting 5 (31st July) Semester 1_

Time allocated: 2 x 40”
Introduction to the Homeostasis

Learning Objectives:
 discuss the importance of homeostasis in mammals and explain the
principles of homeostasis in terms of internal and external stimuli,
receptors, central control, co-ordination systems and effectors (muscles and
glands)

Instructional Methods:
 Motivational Activity: Begin the lesson by engaging the students in a brief
discussion about the concept of balance and stability in living organisms. Share a
real-life scenario where maintaining balance is important (e.g., balancing while
riding a bicycle). Introduce the term "homeostasis" and ask students if they have
heard it before or have any initial understanding of its meaning.
 Divide the class into small groups and provide each group with a list of questions
related to the importance of homeostasis. Instruct the groups to discuss and
answer the questions collaboratively. After the discussion, ask each group to
share their key points with the whole class. Facilitate a class discussion to
explore the various examples and perspectives related to the importance of
homeostasis.
 Set up interactive stations around the classroom, each station representing a
different component of homeostasis (e.g., stimuli, receptors, central control,
coordination systems, effectors). Assign small groups of students to each station,
providing them with handouts explaining the concepts and guiding questions for
exploration. Instruct students to rotate through each station, spending a set
amount of time at each to explore and discuss the principles of homeostasis
related to that station.
 Instruct students to create a concept map that connects the different components
of homeostasis discussed during the interactive stations.

Evaluation of Learning:
 Group activity
