Capstone Chapter 9 Case Problem Grey Code Corporation SBA 1 2

The document discusses exploring a relational database for Grey Code Corporation (GCC) to improve response rates for their home and family magazines mailings. It examines various data points like home value, magazine subscription status, and payment history. Charts are presented showing relationships between factors like family income and response rate. The goal is to see if categorizing factors like number of household members affects renewal rates. SQL will be used to analyze mean values and statistically significant changes between groups to help GCC increase subscription renewals.

How much of this submission has been generated by AI?

*10%
Caution: Percentage may not indicate academic misconduct. Review required.

It is essential to understand the limitations of AI detection before making decisions

about a student's work. We encourage you to learn more about Turnitin's AI detection
capabilities before using the tool.
of qualifying text in this submission has been determined to be
generated by AI.

* Low scores have a higher likelihood of false positives.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the percentage mean?

The percentage shown in the AI writing detection indicator and in the AI writing report is the amount of qualifying text within the
submission that Turnitin's AI writing detection model determines was generated by AI.

Our testing has found that there is a higher incidence of false positives when the percentage is less than 20. In order to reduce the
likelihood of misinterpretation, the AI indicator will display an asterisk for percentages less than 20 to call attention to the fact that
the score is less reliable.

However, the final decision on whether any misconduct has occurred rests with the reviewer/instructor. They should use the
percentage as a means to start a formative conversation with their student and/or use it to examine the submitted assignment in
greater detail according to their school's policies.

How does Turnitin's indicator address false positives?

Our model only processes qualifying text in the form of long-form writing. Long-form writing means individual sentences contained in paragraphs that make up a
longer piece of written work, such as an essay, a dissertation, or an article, etc. Qualifying text that has been determined to be AI-generated will be highlighted blue
on the submission text.

Non-qualifying text, such as bullet points, annotated bibliographies, etc., will not be processed and can create disparity between the submission highlights and the
percentage shown.

What does 'qualifying text' mean?

Sometimes false positives (incorrectly flagging human-written text as AI-generated), can include lists without a lot of structural variation, text that literally repeats
itself, or text that has been paraphrased without developing new ideas. If our indicator shows a higher amount of AI writing in such text, we advise you to take that
into consideration when looking at the percentage indicated.

In a longer document with a mix of authentic writing and AI generated text, it can be difficult to exactly determine where the AI writing begins and original writing
ends, but our model should give you a reliable guide to start conversations with the submitting student.

Disclaimer
Our AI writing assessment is designed to help educators identify text that might be prepared by a generative AI tool. Our AI writing assessment may not always be accurate (it may misidentify
both human and AI-generated text) so it should not be used as the sole basis for adverse actions against a student. It takes further scrutiny and human judgment in conjunction with an
organization's application of its specific academic policies to determine whether any academic misconduct has occurred.

The relational database is looked at in this study to see how it might improve the response

rates of the GCC's mailing efforts for home and family magazines. This higher answer rate is

what the study wants. To help the GCC get more people to fill out the poll, our research will

look at the pros and cons of the current database design. The Database Management System

(DBMS) will be used to test the GCC database for this investigation. Improvements will also

be offered to help the Organization do better. We will look at the data, material, and

conversation to figure out how the GCC database is set up and what its many benefits are.

Explore the Data

Home Value

This is about how much the customer's present home is worth on the market.

Magazine Status

This variable represents the current status of the customer's magazine membership. If the
number is 1, the consumer is already enrolled. If the value is 2, it indicates that he is now
participating. If the value is 3, then he is now undergoing a "subscription transition."

PaidDirectMailOrders

This refers to the aggregate monetary amount of all purchases (credits) that were solicited by

the client via email and then settled by email.

DollarsPerIssue

Here is the dollar amount of the monthly magazine that the customer is currently signed up

for.

TotalPaidOrders

MonthsSinceLastPayment

LastPaymentType

These factors show what kind of contract the customer has. The "PaidDirectMailOrders"

variable displays the number of email sales (in DollarsPerIssue) that happened during the

given time frame. The number "MonthsSinceLastPayment" tells you how long it's been since

the customer bought an email magazine (TotalPaidOrders). "LastPaymentType" stores the

types of payments that customers have made most recently, such as credit card, check, and

email.

Figure 2: Response Rate

Renewal speeds up as family income rises. There is a good link. As the GCC expects, more

study needs to be done to prove this link. The number of children living in the family is not

shown on the picture. Take a look at this extra part. Few kids in the Gulf Cooperation

Council (GCC) use its services. GCC also saw other things that affect the reaction rates of

consumers. There are many of these problems. In this case, the number of people living in the

house, how often the customer subscribes to magazines, and how long it's been since the

customer moved in are all taken into account.

The Global Content Coalition (GCC) also wants to know if the above factors have an effect

on the success of magazines and newspapers. The most important part of this job will be

making a new data file that can hold the needed data. SQL lets us figure out the variable's

mean value in each classification class and the share of data that fall into each class. On the

other hand, we need more details about the situation. We might want to find changes between

groups that are statistically important.

The goal of this study is to find out if there is a noticeable change in the GCC renewal rate

when the category factors are set to a range of different values. An additional feature is that it

gives a 95% confidence range for each estimate. This can be used to check if a certain

category class number has a big effect on the customer's rate of repeat. The company GCC

picked the group with the lowest value for the variable "how often a customer reads a

magazine." One possible reason for GCC's pretty high repeat rate could be found here.

With the help of 95% confidence intervals, we can pull together a set of values that may help

us figure out which group class has the highest value for each variable. There is a clear and

significant difference in the usual repeat rate when comparing families of different sizes,

locations, and income levels.

Figure 5: Cutoff Probability vs Error Rate

By reducing the cut-off chance to 25%, for example, the mistake rate for class 0 can go up

while the error rate for class 1 goes down.

Figure 6: Lift Chart

To get more people to fill out online surveys, the GCC needs to learn how to maintain

databases. A relational database is used by the GCC to store and organize information. This

makes it easier to store and manage info. As a way to improve marketing and contact with

customers, the Global Communications and Communications Company (GCC) is putting

money into the database. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) uses the data to make a

complete and effective marketing plan for selling its goods and services. GCC sorts people

into groups and keeps track of what websites they visit. So, GCC has to choose whether to

change the way the database is set up or leave it alone. What method is used to improve the

information will depend on how much the different options cost. Most of the customer

information is gathered by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
