Greeting in the oneness of heart and jesus and mary to all my subject teacher Ma ’ am lyssa O
Isip,Ma’am precious trinindad, ma’am nikki jane Dela cruz and to my fellow classmate Good day i’
m here to present the technology and radiation.
Have you ever heard the technology effects?and what is the importance of the technology in our
daily life? What are the fields that might use the radiation technology that would help us to survive?
Owing to its potentially harmful effects, ionizing radiation is often and much feared by the general
population. Contributing to this are catastrophic historical events, e.g., Hiroshima, Chernobyl, and
poa Fukushima, to name but a few. However, when properly controlled, radiation can be extremely
useful in various fields of science and technology relevant for everyday life.
In other hand, Radiation protection refers to the practices and measures taken to minimize the
harmful effects of ionizing radiation on human health and the environment. It involves a
combination of techniques and strategies aimed at reducing radiation exposure and ensuring safety
in various settings, including nuclear facilities, medical facilities, industrial a was applications, and
even natural radiation sources. Three research groups have contributed to this topic.
In 1910, there's a study about the effects of the radiation technology and radiation chemistry was
founded. Besides naturally occurring radioactive isotopes, artificial ones were produced using
cyclotrons. A significant impetus, however, was given to the radiation processing industry with
advent of nuclear reactors used to produce radioisotopes. Gamma-ray emitters like cobalt-60
become popular radiation sources for medical and industrial applications. In recent times, the use of
electron accelerators as radiation sources is increasing.
Based on the statistics, there are many benefits for patients from medical imaging. Images of the
human body are created using a variety of means such as ultrasound, magnetic resonance, nuclear
medicine and X-rays to allow physicians to see inside the body, to identify and/or rule out medical
problems, and to diagnose diseases. Much has recently been written about radiation, so it is
important to have some understanding of imaging performed using radiation, especially the
benefits to the patient along with the associated risks.
Keep in mind that the radiation doses used in medical radiological imaging examinations like
computed tomography (CT) and X-ray scans are much lower than those used in radiation oncology,
which uses radiation as a therapy to treat cancer. Radiology (imaging) and radiotherapy (cancer
treatment) are quite different.
Generally speaking, all medical procedures and tests carry both risks and benefits, and any
consideration of radiation risk must be balanced against the benefits. Media reports generally focus
on the risks of radiation, but there are substantial benefits to these tests that must be considered in
any balanced discussion of risk versus benefit. After a radiation dose of 10 mSv (which is the kind
of dose associated with many CT scans) the estimated risk of developing a fatal cancer is one in
2,000, but that risk must be considered in the context of the good that comes from receiving a dose
of radiation. Undue anxiety about the cancer risks of radiation could potentially expose patients to
far greater risks from delayed diagnosis or incorrect management.
Wireless technologies are everywere today and the mobile phones are one of the prodigious output
of this technology. Although the familiarization and dependency of mobile phones is growing at an
alarming pace, the biological effects due to the exposure of radiations have become a subject of
intense debate. The present evidence on mobile phone radiation exposure is based on scientific
research and public policy initiative to give an overview of what is known of biological effects that
occur at radiofrequency (RF)/ electromagnetic fields (EMFs) exposure. The conflict in conclusions
is mainly because of difficulty in controlling the affecting parameters. Biological effects are
dependent not only on the distance and size of the object (with respect to the object) but also on the
environmental parameters. Health endpoints reported to be associated with RF include childhood
leukemia, brain tumors, genotoxic effects, neurological effects and neurodegenerative diseases,
immune system deregulation, allergic and inflammatory responses, infertility and some
cardiovascular effects. Most of the reports conclude a reasonable suspicion of mobile phone risk
that exists based on clear evidence of bio-effects which with prolonged exposures may reasonably
be presumed to result in health impacts. The present study summarizes the public issue based on
mobile phone radiation exposure and their biological effects. This review concludes that the regular
and long term use of microwave devices (mobile phone, microwave oven) at domestic level can
have negative impact upon biological system especially on brain. It also suggests that increased
reactive oxygen species (ROS) play an important role by enhancing the effect of microwave
radiations which may cause neurodegenerative diseases.
In relation to 17 Sustainable Development Goals, My statement aims to achieve Good Health and
Well-being for all people specially for us young people of the society. This reminds us to consider
our limitations as individuals who are being introduced in the in industry of technology. We must
be aware with the proper usage of these things in order to prevent negative effects of this to us and
to ourr society
Now I know the exact pros and cons of the technology and radiation, for me, as a student, I will
definitely use technology wisely and I will make sure that I won't spend my whole time having a
set of gadgets and playing more games because it could be destroy my immune system and cause a
lot of diseases though in a medical field there's still in advantage as per the study however, we need
to make sure that we're not impacted in this technology negative effecs which is the radiation cause
of death.
