The Aspect of Leadership at XYZ Company

Various leadership concerns have risen at company XYZ, where the employees' and

leadership's satisfactory levels are at lower rates. This needs to be corrected. I have a to advise

Pat, the company's vice president, how this can be fixed. I am in a better position to offer the

advice as I recently enrolled in a management course. The paper presents the characteristics of a

successful leader, what followers expect from a leader, what leaders expect from followers, the

strategies to increase the leadership, and employee satisfaction ratings.

Characteristics Of a Successful Leader

Although there is not a single right approach to effectively lead a company or a team,

there are common characteristics among successful leaders that should be considered when

developing the leaders and their skills. That is why effective leadership is important. To retain

employees, satisfy clients, and improve the company's productivity, it is important to have

individuals who can effectively communicate the company's vision, guide the employees, and

influence the expected change (Daft, 2018). Some of the characteristics of successful leaders

include the ability to influence the teams, transparency, encourage innovativeness and risk-

taking, and impart ethics and credibility, among other vital characteristics.

What Followers Expect from A Leader

To effectively run a company, leaders must strategize, set priorities and visions, build

successful relationships with the teams within the organizations, and make things happen within

these organizations (Winsborough et al., 2009). However, if the followers are asked what they

expect from a leader, the answer will be clear. They expect a leader who can be trusted, a

compassionate leader who can instill stability and hope for everyone under them.

What Leaders Expect from Followers

The success of a team depends on the relationship between the leaders and their

followers. Various expectations have to be met by followers that cement the relationship. The

leaders expect the followers who know when a situation calls for them to take action and be

involved. They expect the followers to generate ideas that will help in solving various problems

within the organization. The followers should be willing to collaborate to ensure that the goals of

the company are met (Bossidy, 2007). They should be willing to put aside their divisions and

focus on the success of the company. The leaders also expect the followers to be hardworking

and ready to give their all to ensure that the company achieves its goals and remains top in its

performance.

Strategies To Increase the Leadership and Employee Satisfaction Ratings

Various strategies can be used to increase the satisfaction ratings for both the leadership

and the employees. To increase the leadership satisfaction rating, it is important to evaluate their

skills and knowledge and ensure that it is up-to-date. Again, it is important to review the issues

that make their satisfaction levels lower. This will help in prescribing the right dose that will

increase their satisfaction levels.

To increase the satisfaction rating of the employees, it is also important to get their

feedback on what has caused a dip in their satisfaction levels. Then, the management should

come up with approaches to help them to up their levels of satisfaction. Some of the common

approaches that can be used here include; motivating the employees, conducting regular training,

and meeting their employment needs. In company XYZ, ensuring that the employees are

satisfied will ensure that the productivity of the company in the long-run also increases.
