1. Group Brain Storming
Project Idea: Big Island Hotel management wanted to shift their hotel resort to all-

inclusive which is new on the island where most of the people came for these as it is

most popular in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, or Jamaica. Three possible projects

identified by the board of directors are listed below, and these projects are

coordinated with the all-inclusive model.

From the total of 35 projects listed, the management team will choose 5 projects and

move further with them.

During our virtual meeting, all group members discussed the potential of many

project ideas and from which our team will be able to figure out the 5 most effective

projects.

The selection procedure for the 5 project possibilities is briefly described below.
Facilitator Prof. Shaila Aranha
Due to limited time and members, each team member will enter their ideas into their dedicated column. Remember to keep the ideas
clear, and short, and do not worry about duplicates. This format is best for structured brainstorming, where the facilitator calls out
each member’s name on a rotating basis. The session ends when each team member passes consecutively

A. All group members actively participate in the group activities along with the

preparation and proper research on that topic.

B. No conflict between group members in deciding the project is also a major

thing we achieved.

C. When it comes to the confusion regarding project ideas, one of the Group

members can resolve it.

What went wrong?

A. At the initial stage in the class all our group members were not present so we

have to meet virtually, and it caused some difficulties due to technical faults.

B. When the project idea needs to decide

How can brainstorming be done in the future?
The steps outlined are extremely valuable for efficiently generating potential
solutions during the case study brainstorming process.

1. Iterative Brainstorming sessions would be more useful to get better results.

2. Each group member’s feedback on each project idea should help to choose
the best project idea.
3. Encourage every group member to share their feedback and came back with
more project ideas as iterative sessions are there.
4. To get a more specific project idea Entire group should be further divided
into small groups of 2 or a maximum of 3 people.
5. Analyse similar case studies so that mistakes can be avoided before
execution.

3. Individual Paired Comparison

5. Decision-making tools reflection

The paired comparison method is widely recognized as the most effective approach

for selecting the best ideas from multiple options when using the six hats method. In

contrast to the six hats method, the paired comparison method is considered

superior due to its ability to directly compare possible options, facilitating the

identification of the optimal choice. When faced with competing options, the paired

comparison analysis proves especially valuable as it assists in selecting the most

favourable option. However, in situations where there are no competing demands,

the prioritization process becomes simpler.

6. The board of directors recommends the project.

The board of directors finally recommended that the project is very useful in terms

of the space we have, and it will eventually boost the revenue of the resort and

serves as a good tourist place for the tourist. This project is selected using paired

comparison method and the six thinking hats method.
