Week2 ITversity Support Document

This document provides instructions for connecting to the ITVersity Big Data Labs environment from a local computer using Putty and WinSCP. It explains that Putty and WinSCP allow connecting remotely and transferring files between a local computer and the ITVersity environment. Steps are outlined for creating MapReduce program JAR files locally, copying them to ITVersity using WinSCP, and then executing the JARs on Hadoop. The document also provides the host name and login details for connecting to the remote environment using Putty or SSH.

Putty and WinSCP video by ITVersity

06 Spark - Getting Started - Windows - Setup Putty and WinScp -
YouTube

What is Putty?
It helps you to connect with remote machine (in our case ITVersity) with
flexibility and user friendliness

What is WinSCP?
It helps you to transfer files between windows/mac and remote machine (in
our case ITVersity).

Problem Statement
ITVersity don’t have any IDE to write MapReduce Program.
Solution
Follow below approach
1. Create jar file in windows/mac using eclipse or any IDE (Jar Creation
and Execution - Practical Session2 Video)
2. Copy the jar to ITVersity (WinSCP) (This document with heading -
How to move file from laptop to ITV Local)
3. Execute jar on Hadoop (refer same video in step 1)
