The pitch of a screw gauge is 2mm and there are 200 divisions on the circular head. While measuring the diameer of a wire , the main scale reads 3 mm and the 55th division is in line with the base line. Find the diameter of wire, assuming no zero error in the instrument. 3 10.The length of a simple pendulum is decreased by 5%. Whateffect does it have on the time period of pendulum? 2 2 11.A VC has 1mm mark on the main scale. It has 20 equal divisions on the vernier scale which matches with 16 main scale divisions. For this VC , find the least count. 2 12.A wooden block floats in water with two-third of its volume submerged. Calculate a. Density of wood. 2 b. When the same block is placed on oil, 3/4th of its volume is immersed in oil. Find the density of oil. 2 13.A piece of wax floats on brine. What fraction of its volume is immersed ? Density of wax = 0.95 g/cm3 , Density of brine = 1.1 gm/cm3 2 14.A piece of stone of mass 113 gm sinks to the bottom in water contained in a measuring cylinder and water level in cylinder rises from 30 ml to 40 ml.Calculate RD of stone. 2 15.A metal cube of side 5 cm and density 7.9 g/cm3 is suspended by a thread and is immersed completely in a liquid of density 1.1 gm/cm3. Find a. the weight of cube b. the upthrust of cube and c. the tension in thread. (2x3) 16.A solid of density ρ has weight W.
