A Compare And Contrast Essay Is One That

Writing a compare and contrast essay can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies in
the intricate process of analyzing two or more subjects, identifying their similarities and differences,
and presenting a coherent and compelling argument. It requires a thoughtful approach to research,
critical thinking, and effective organization of ideas.

One of the challenges is selecting suitable topics that offer meaningful comparisons. Finding subjects
with enough similarities and differences to generate a meaningful essay requires careful
consideration. Once the topics are chosen, the task becomes delving into the details, conducting
thorough research, and extracting relevant information to build a strong foundation for the essay.

The organization of the essay is another aspect that poses a challenge. Crafting a clear and logical
structure is essential to guide the reader through the comparison process. Each paragraph needs to
focus on a specific aspect of the subjects being compared, ensuring a smooth flow of ideas.
Balancing the similarities and differences while maintaining coherence is crucial to the overall
success of the essay.

Furthermore, developing a strong thesis statement that captures the essence of the comparison is
essential. The thesis serves as the roadmap for the entire essay, guiding the writer and the reader
through the analysis. It should be concise, insightful, and reflective of the main argument the essay
aims to convey.

In the writing process, maintaining a balance between description and analysis can be challenging.
Describing the features of each subject is important, but the analysis is where the essay truly shines.
Analyzing the significance of the identified similarities and differences requires a deep understanding
of the subjects and the ability to draw insightful conclusions.

Despite the challenges, writing a compare and contrast essay provides an opportunity for intellectual
growth and expression. It allows the writer to showcase critical thinking skills, analytical prowess,
and the ability to communicate ideas effectively. The process of crafting such an essay fosters a
deeper understanding of the subjects and the relationships between them.

In conclusion, tackling a compare and contrast essay involves navigating through the complexities of
selecting appropriate topics, conducting thorough research, organizing ideas coherently, and
presenting a compelling analysis. While it may be challenging, the skills developed in the process are
invaluable. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, where expert

Rhetorical Analysis Of Coming To Our Senses By Neil...
Our senses are faulty data taking devices, and they need help, states Neil deGrasse

the American Museum of Natural History. In his scientific essay Coming to Our
Senses, published in Natural History Magazine, Tyson explores the idea of the five
senses being limited and needing help from technology. Through Tyson s use of ethical
appeals, allusions, and hypothetical scenarios, he is able to effectively convince the
readers that humans need to use their five senses and technology to explore and
understand the world around them. Through Tyson s use of ethical appeals, he is able
to effectively build his credibility as a trusted figure. A knowledgeable and experienced

Immanuel Kant Definition Of Business Ethics
Part A: Introduction
There are several ways to define ethics. Ethic is a set of principles of right and wrong
behavior guiding. Ethical person will behave in accordance with sound moral principles
based on fairness, justice and trust (Wiley, 1995). The purpose of ethic is to provide an
environment that allows people to live a more structured, happy life than would exist
without ethics (Warnock, 1971). Business ethic is examination of variety of problems that
can arise from business environment and how employees, management and corporation
deal with them such as fiduciary duty, insider trading, bribery, discrimination. In other
word, ethic of business is about making the right, moral, ethical business decision.

How Does Caffeine Affect Typing Speed
Introduction
Caffeine is a photoactive stimulant found in plant species. These plant species vary
including tea, coffee and cocoa. The caffeine is absorbed fully into the stomach and
small intestine after 30 to 45 minutes, which is the peak of the caffeine. The caffeine is
in a person s body for up to 4 hours. Caffeine has consequences if over dosed. Anxiety,
heart palpitations, headaches, insomnia and nervousness are all physical and mental
conditions that can be present if you have caffeinism. This research gives me an insight
into caffeine I would have never known if I did not chose this topic to study.

This experiment was to determine the effects that are present on the typing speed and
accuracy of a person after consuming caffeine. I

Pedagogical Reflection
Over the last couple of weeks, I have noticed a variety of pedagogical decisions my
teacher uses. She teaches a lot of her lessons in a whole group setting. Furthermore,
within the whole groups settings she teaches a lot of rules and content. For example, the
students were reading The Eye of the Storm , which is about a storm chaser travelling to
Florida to capture and document Hurricane Andrew. She questioned the students about
what he does for a living. The students answered a storm chaser; however, the teacher
then asked why he would choose a career that is potentially dangerous. One student said,
I think he chose this career because his job could tell us how dangerous the storm is, and
he could compare this storm to future storms and... Show more content on

In some cases, she makes her own worksheets because she believes the book didn t cover
enough. This results in rote learning and memorization by the students. However, about a
third of her worksheets, she allows the students to work in partners. When the students
interact with each other, they learn from one another and gain ideas and knowledge about
the particular topic. For example, the students were working on equivalent fractions.
They started working on worksheets individually, but as a whole group lecture and
practice. The students then moved around the room to work with partners. The teacher
handed out manipulatives (foam fractions) to help them understand equivalent fractions
once they moved to partners. Some of the students weren t really getting the concept of
equivalent fractions, but once they were partnered up the students were starting to get it.
They were bouncing ideas off of each other and started to really get the concept. After
about twenty minutes, the teacher asked the students to go back to their seat so they
could go over the worksheet. The students had a lot of the answers correct. However, the
teacher introduced a concept about multiplying to get equivalent fractions. She just stated
the rule and asked the students to quickly multiply the fractions and figure out the
equivalent. I disagreed with this method, because the students had a really tough time
trying to multiply all

which flood the market year upon year. There are many different forms of stimulant
which have been created to mimic the effects of illegal drugs such as cocaine,
cannabis and ecstasy (See appendix B). As they cannot be sold for human
consumption they are often sold as incense, bath salts or plant food to avoid breaking
the law and can be found online or in many high street shops (Talktofrank.com, 2015).
They are often produced in China and India and then imported to be packaged and

person taking the substance can never be 100% sure that what they are taking and the

substances and so being in possession of these in an offence. The police have the
power to confiscate any NPS in your possession for testing detain you and potentially
arrest you (Know the Score, 2015). What are some of the biological effects of legal
highs? Taking NPS can cause hypertension (raised blood pressure) this puts the heart and
blood vessels under strain and could potentially lead to life threatening medical
complications such as; heart attack, stroke and kidney disease. There is an even greater
risk of suffering these if you already have pre existing conditions such as diabetes
(Bloodpressureuk.org, 2015). Another prominent issue is that of the

The MGM Grand in Las Vegas (MGM) and The Venetian (LVS) have both recent
undertaken renovations in their rooms, suites and restaurants. A reason for the needed
renovations is an attempt to revitalize the glitz and glam status that made these resorts
and Las Vegas the gaming capital of the United States. While both organizations are
working to expand beyond the Vegas strip it s imperative that their beginnings are not
neglected. MGM Grand began a $160 million room renovation in February [2012]
which includes the property s 3,570 rooms and 642 suites in the main tower. Las Vegas
Sands isn t far behind with plans to renovate approximately a thousand rooms in the
Venetian . (Wharton, 2012) It s important to note that these ventures are consisting of
large undertakings, large amounts of financial investments for the upgrade, and no
revenue coming in from these rooms at that time. While this could cause demise for
many organizations, history has proven for these investments to reap the benefits of a
greater return rate. Renovations have been known to provide a sea change to take an
organization from tired and lackluster to a primo destination. When in the pursuit of
lodging excellency no resort is immune for renovations from time to time. These
renovations can span many price points and it can only reap rewards from happier
travelers who have better options available at their
Florence Nightingale Values
Whether the time be hundreds of years ago or today, Florence Nightingale demonstrates
the same nursing values as nurses today. What would the nation do if Florence
Nightingale did not notice the unsanitary conditions of the military hospitals? The
uncleanliness of the hospitals would kill the patients before the diseases do. Nightingale
left an impact on the history of nursing. Nightingale s strong values influence the future
nurses of today (Stichler, 2014).
Florence Nightingale was the founder for nursing. Even though Nightingale s family was
against the career of nursing, she pursued her passion of learning to care for the ill. She
strived to help the people sick and in need. Nightingale showed her caring heart when she
helped cure soldiers during the Crimean War. She showed her compassion as she helped
the wounded soldiers from the battlefield. Over time, Nightingale noticed the unsanitary
conditions at the base hospital. Since the conditions were extremely unsanitary,
Nightingale recorded the mortality rate of the soldiers. According to her data, the soldiers
hospitalized were seven times more likely to pass away from unsanitary environments
and not injuries from the battlefield. After the environmental conditions improved, the
mortality rate decreased from 60% to 2%. With the help of fresh fruits and vegetables,
Nightingale helped improve the mortality rate drastically. Nightingale brought attention
to the unsanitary environments of the hospital.

The adoption of the heavy plough, the carruca over the Roman era light aratra plough,

F. Skinner was one of the major supporters of the nurturing theory. His theory states
basically that language development in a child is very much a learned behavior
achieved through repetition and positive rewarding. He theorized that children learn
language much a dog learns a new trick. His style of thinking is based on behavioral
psychology which often see as a STIMULUS is receive and the subject provides a
RESPONSE then the sender can provide REINFORCEMENT (Language and Language
Development, n.d.) So in his theory a child would learn language based on how his
parents responded to the behavior.

Lev Vygotsky another major proponent of the nurture theory has a more of a social focus
and he argues that it is the social interactions with those around the children that lead to
the development of language. Vygotsky believes that young children are curious and
actively involved in their own learning and the discovery and development of new
understandings/schema. (McLeod, 2007) Meaning that there is an active connection
between the child trying to learn the language and the person doing the teaching in the
child s life. Vygotsky has a name for this type of communication he named it
collaborative dialogue.

smooth legato sounds and bow strokes throughout the piece. The cellos in particular had

closely to this performance. First of all, I learned about the importance of all bows

Evaluating An Internet Based Stress Management...
Evaluating an Internet based stress management intervention for undergraduate
university students INTRODUCTION A recent survey by the National Union of
Students indicates that an 80% of Higher Education students report stress as the most
often experienced feeling of mental distress, with only 36% of distressed students
reaching out for help (NUS, 2013). Another survey which took place in a UK
university suggests that all three years of an undergraduate s time in a university is a
period of heightened psychological distress, and even if fluctuations in levels of stress
are present it never reaches pre admission levels (Bewick et al, 2010). Frequent stress
responses have shown to weaken the immune system, act as a risk factor toward
developing depression, coronary heart disease, diabetes, obesity, even oxidative stress
which damages DNA and sets the ground for inflammatory diseases (Djuric et al, 2008).
Therefore it is not an issue which should be overlooked as it may appear not that
threatening in the short term. This study aims to evaluate an Internet based stress
management intervention for university students of both sexes experiencing stress
during their time of studies. Through a systematic review and meta analysis, computer
based interventions have been shown to be effective in reducing the rates of stress and
depression amongst students (Davies et al, 2012). Furthermore, they overcome barriers
which might prevent students from seeking professional help, such as the
American War 1650-1850 Causes
The major motive for wars between 1650 and 1850 were due to trade, for expansion
and protection of trade. The wars mostly took place, because of the claiming of wealth
and vast land areas of the Americas. Nations were fighting each other to claim
ownership and to fight for independence because of the heavy tax burdens that was
being placed on them. The English and Dutch fought several wars over Dutch access to
English ports and wars over trade between Englandand Spain. In the late seventeenth
century, the British began to challenge the Dutch and the Portuguese that was for control
of the trade with Indonesia. The wars began over territory in Europe and were extended
to America in one direction and to Asia in the other. Mercantilism was what inspired
these imperial wars. Mercantilism believed that the wealth of a state... Show more content

of the world s resources, and it dominated the world s carrying trade. Western states

important part of this economy, and it was one of the main sources of western wealth.
When it came to the slave trade, it was a key component to the economy, because it

the foundations for western political control. Trade, wealth, and greed were mostly the
main motivations for these wars between 1650 and

How often have you attended an event and found that you were totally overwhelmed and
under prepared? I see it happen all the time and it makes my heart sink because,
seriously, those are missed opportunities that you will never get back.

There are many large, and valuable, events scheduled around North America (and the
world, for that matter) that are a gold mine of opportunity when it comes to learning and
networking. Attending these events is one of the best ways to grow your business and
develop valuable and meaningful contacts, too.

I like to be prepared before arriving at these events whether they are the large, once a

many entrepreneurs, you just don t know what you don t know. I want to share some of
my best tips for seizing the opportunity and really getting the best return on investment
possible.

1. First and foremost, create a plan for the year and decide which events you will be
attending and why. There are so very many choices
Four Major Blood Types
there are four major blood types a ,b, ab, or O. The antigens on the surface of a blood
cell determines what kind of blood type you have. Antigens are proteins on the surface
of blood cells that can cause a response from the immune system. We need to know
these blood types so that if we ever needed a bloodtransfusion, we know what blood type
we would need. It matters what blood type you receive when you have a transfusion

Cold, Heating, And Ventilation
Overview Cold, Heating, and ventilation has become the most energy consumption area
in the residential. According to (Lu. j, et al., 2010 p.211). Studies have shown that 20
30% of this energy could be saved by turning off the HVAC system when residents are
sleeping or away. In this project proposal, I try to design and analyse in detail how to use
very cheap and simple technology with good sensing ability to automatically sense the
customers sleep patterns in a home, and how to use these sleeping patterns and
consumption time to save energy by automatically turning off the smart home thermostat
system. This technology has become more commercialized today and called approaching

Jazz Music In The 1930 s
Jazz music originated from New Orleans, Louisiana in the early 1900 s. The creation
of the style came from a need for a phycological shield against the disasters from nature
and society in New Orleans at the time. Jazz was the most original form that came from
those troubles. Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, call and response vocals,
polyrhythms and improvisation. Jazzhas roots from West African cultural and
expressions, as well as African American traditions. Jazz started becoming more world
wide around 1910 and started introducing brass band marches, French quadrilles, and
biguine musicstyles. Later in the 1930 s dance oriented swing bands became very
prominent to the style. From there Jazz music continued to grow and become
Cultural Influence On The Culture Of Students In The...
Culture is the knowledge, values, attitudes, and traditions that guide behavior of a group
of people and allow them to solve problems of living in their environment (Woolfolk
193). It is clear that a students cultural background shapes who they are, therefore this
could shape what kind of student they are in the classroom. The visible signs of culture
are clothing, language, and traditions. But taking a look deeper into someones culture
can reflect who they are and their beliefs. The text suggests that some psychologists
believe that cult defines intelligence. I am not sure I totally agree with this. I believe
cultural tendencies can definitely impact the way children participate in the classroom.
To engage students effectively in the learning process, teachers must know their students
and their academic abilities individually, rather than relying on racial or ethnic
stereotypes or prior experience with other students of similar backgrounds or culture.
Knowing a student is a member of a particular culture group does not define what that
student is like (Woolfolk 197). People are individuals, and just because they have a
certain culture background, does not mean they have the same attributes shared by other
members of their culture. I do believe that culture matters. To truly engage students, as
teachers we must reach out to them in ways that are culturally responsive and
appropriate, and we must examine the cultural assumptions and stereotypes we bring into

Requirements For Accounting Of Business Combinations
1. Exclusions of AASB 3 AASB 3 has defined business and business combination in
appendix A as: A business is an integrated set of activities and assets that is capable of
being conducted and managed for the purpose of providing return in the form of
dividends, lower costs or other economic benefits directly to the investors or other
owners, members or participants. A business combination is a transaction or other event
in which an acquirer obtains control of one or more business. AASB 3 applies to all the
general form of business combinations but exclusions are: пѓ If the business
combination results in the formation of the joint venture then such business

Does Brutus Love Portia
At first, it appears that Portia and Brutus have a combative marriage. The readers first
meet Portia in Act II, scene I, page 11, line 242. She is up in the wee hours of the
morning to confront Brutus about his odd behavior. The way Brutus reacts to Portia at
first may seem hostile and discriminating; however, this is not the case. The reader can
see that Brutus truly loved Portiaas an equal to himself because Brutus is guarding his
secret to protect Portia, and they re relationship is much different from that of Caesar and
Calpurnia s.
Brutus truly loved Portia as an equal to himself because he refuses to tell Portia what
is troubling him, in order to protect her. In the play, Brutus tries to convince Portia that
he is simply sick and that she should go back to bed and not worry (act II, scene I, page
12, lines 265 and 268). Portia later proclaims that if she is strong enough to bear a self
inflicted stab wound, then she can handle what is weighing on Brutus s mind. Brutus
proceeds to wonder aloud how he is worthy of such a noble wife (act II, scene I, page
13, lines 310 313). Readers can see that Brutus loves his wife as an equal to himself
because he wants Portia to go back to sleep for the safety of her own health. When Portia
stabs herself, Brutus does not react angrily or even frightened. He recognizes that this ...

Women married for money and protection not for love. An example of that kind of
marriage is Caesar and Calpurnia s marriage (act II, scene II, page 3, lines 50 56). Due
to the fact that Brutus and Portia lived during this time period, many may think that
their relationship is like everyone else s; however, this is not the case. Brutus tells
Portia that she is truly dear to him, and that she is an honorable and noble wife (act II,
scene I, page 13, lines 296 and 313). Brutus truly loved Portia as an equal to himself, and

The Horrors of Auschwitz
Auschwitz is considered by the most the most inhumane concentration camp in world
war two. At the beginning of 1940, Auschwitz was created, and it was under the rules of
the SS (Concentration Camp). Auschwitz was the largest concentration camp during
World War II, where over a million people died. Jews were treated horribly, and many
were gassed. Auschwitz was called a death camp, for many reasons which included the
deportation and selection process, medical experiments, and gas chambers. Auschwitz
was called the death camp. It was the largest concentration camp, and it had the largest
prisoner population (Auschwitz). Nine out of ten prisoners in Auschwitz were Jewish
(Auschwitz). Most prisoners that arrived at Auschwitz only survived for a few weeks, or
months (Auschwitz). Jewsdied from starvation, medical experiments, gas chambers,
diseases, and beatings. Jewish prisoners looked like walking skeletons because they
were deprived from food, and water (Auschwitz). The prisoners, who were too weak to
work, were sent to be killed in the gas chambers (Auschwitz). Some prisoners
committed suicide by running into the electric fences (Auschwitz). Many people tried to
escape, but only five hundred prisoners successfully escaped (Deem). It was nearly
impossible to escape because the camp was surrounded by electrically charged barbed
wire fences (Auschwitz). Auschwitz was also surrounded by SS guards equipped with
machine guns (Auschwitz). Once the camp was liberated the SS
Why Is The Battle Of Vimy Ridge Significant
The Battle of Vimy Ridge Significant or not significant?
Johnathan Hua April 14 2016
The Battle of Vimy Ridge is historically significant because a vast amount of people
were affected. The battle of Vimy Ridge was a critical battle during the Allied offensive
called the Arras offensive. It was a great Allied victory. It started an unbroken chain of
victories for the Canadian Corps. This essay will be explaining why The Battle of Vimy
Ridge is historically significant by having multiple perspectives, many people affected
and what long lasting consequences occurred.

The Battle of Vimy Ridge was historically significant because there were a wide range
of stakeholders that had different perspectives on Vimy Ridge. Many Canadians thought
that it was a great victory for Canada. The Germans thought of it as a draw at best for
the Canadians because there wasn t a breakthrough following the victory. Some historians
thought the battle was just a myth created by Canada because the battle occurred on
Easter Monday, giving it religious significance. Historians also believe that it was not a
very significant event because no breakthrough occurred after the battle. They believe
that other battles, for example Amiens, were far less known, had more effect on ... Show

One such example of a long lasting consequence is being related to one the soldiers
that were hurt. It would heavily impact you and anyone else who was related. It could
cause depression which could affect you for a very long time. This battle also caused a
great change. It was one of the few victories in 1917 for the allies. It also gave the
Canadian Corps a new commander in Sir Arthur Currie. The last commander, Sir Julian
Byng got promoted. Under the command of their new commander, they had an
unbreakable chain of victories which was started by their victory at Vimy
Night s Senior Awards Ceremony
This may not be the most fascinating story, but it s a story that I believe many students
can relate to. When it comes to school, we are always exposed to feelings of jealousy
and envy towards students who are smarter and have better grades than us. However, not
because someone has more of something, makes what you have any less significant and
special.
On May 28th in my AP Literature class, my teacher handed out note cards for that night s
Senior $#$#1$#$# ceremony. My card had three numbers on it 7,9 and 21. Each
number represents the order in which a group of awards would be given out. For
instance, since I had number 7 first, I was part of the seventh group to go up on stage
and receive an award. I was ecstatic to see which awards I would ... Show more content

I felt as if I was ,in a sense, finally measuring up to my peers. Once I sat back down, I
started to enjoy the ceremony more. I observed as the number ten group received their
award for having over 1,000 hours of community service, the group eleven, then group
twelve and so on. Patiently, I awaited for Mr. Bravo to hold up the twenty one in order
to receive my last award. When he finally did, I stood up and began to walk toward the
stage s stairs, but I noticed that I was the only one there. The times I went up before, I
could hear the sound of chairs folding up and students chattering as they walk to get in
line. But not this time. All you could here were the clicks of my heels. I began to feel
even more nervous now. I had absolutely no clue what the award was for. Why was I
the only one here. Is it a special award? Did I read the number wrong? Was I in line for
the wrong number? My mind began to overflow with these questions. This time my
principle began with Our next award is being presented to a special student whom the
counseling staff has chosen as this years Champion of Character for her extraordinary
high school growth. She then continued with Congratulations to Ms. Leslie Ruiz. I
proceeded to walk on stage and receive my award. I was very nervous as I stood on stage
alone, but I also felt very honored and ecstatic to receive such a special award. From a
distance I could see my parents and my boyfriend as they
Essay On Static Members
Week Five Learning Journal The Ongoing Emphasis on Static Members Static, static,
static; but what does all this static mean? Re occuringly, our reading material conveys
the idea of static members. During the course of chapter five, I develop a keen
understanding on how to use static members, say variables and methods. Building static
variables and methods means building class members that hold the same values through
all instances. No matter how many instances of a class I instantiate, static members will
retain the same value. This is useful for global placement of data. Building non static

Chapter five teaches me to instantiate variables of references of objects with the new
keyword, before trying to use my variable. How I Can Use Null Pointer Wisdom in
My Own Programming at Home Moreover, many programmers, like me, have their
development cycle haulted when the SDK or 3DEngine crashes, and all the console
says is null pointer exception. From reading chapter five, I can tell you this exception
is thrown when an object referenced variable was not instantiated. This error is simple
to fix, takes initializing the troubled variable with the new keyword and constructor of
its referenced object class, and there we go. Months of questioning and advice seeking
on SDK forums can be bypassed with chapter five, when all you really need to do is
identify which variable on the call stack is causing the null pointer reference. Identify
which object reference it should have, and initialize it with the new keyword and class
constructor. Arrays of Type Object I like writing in depth learning journals, because
looking back on learning journals point out material I find especially interesting.
Arrays of type object are handy when you ve created an object class, and need to
spawn an array of them. In video game programming, often it s useful to create a bullet
object, or a character object, or a background object. Knowing Java creates array of
objects help programmers rapidly spawn multiple types of their objects. Java is one of

Hunger And Hunger
Hunger continues to be an ongoing issue. In America 49 million Americans are food
insecure, meaning that they do not have the access to food to attain an active and healthy
lifestyle (Frisch, 1)... 41million people struggle with hunger in the United States,
including 13 million children and in 2015, 5.4 million seniors struggled to afford enough
to eat (FeedingAmerica.org). This means the approximate ratio of hunger in America is
one in six people, which include almost 16 million children. According to Frisch, The
Government spends about $80 million on its main initiative, the Supplemental Nutrition
Assistance Program (SNAP), so they can make sure that the poor have enough foodto
consume (Frisch, 1), which leads to concerns about the people s health. Since hunger and
obesity continues to be a problem, it is negatively impacting the lives of low income
people; therefore governments and SNAP need to provide nutritious food and quality
benefits to address the issue.
Although the SNAP was established to reduce food insecurities, some wonder whether it
can boost a participant s craving. For example, Overweight and obesity rates are higher
among woman and children that utilize SNAP benefits than other people with low
income that do not gain SNAP benefits (Frisch, 1)... Households that are food insecure
have limited and uncertain

Nigerian Culture Vs American Culture Essay
Nigerian Culture vs. American Culture
There are vast contrasts between the cultures of Nigerians and Americans, but there are
similarities among the two as well. Distinguishing the attributes that make up both
countries can instill a knowledge in both peoples and give a new sense of appreciation
for the diverse cultures. The differences and comparisons may come as a surprise for
some. Some of the major differences lie within the styles of communication in the two
countries, but if studied thoroughly similarities in communication methods can be found.
The official language of Nigeria is English, as in The United States. This is the main
likeness in the communication methods of these two countries. Although most Nigerians
do speak English, being fluent in other languages is not rare. There are over 521
languages that have been spoken in Nigeria with at least 9 of them now being extinct

Even though this term is the same in both places, if it were a more direct question, the
meanings would then differ. An example being; Are you mad or something? To
Nigerians this is a question of their sanity To Americans, it is just a way to find out the
mood the person is in and to clarify if they are angry about an issue that occurred ( Useful
phrases in Yoruba ). Another significant distinction between Nigerian and American
culture is food.
A typical breakfast layout for Americans may be a bowl of cereal or a piece of toast.
For those with heartier appetites it may consist of eggs and bacon, pancakes, or an
omelet. In Nigeria, most people do not have breakfast. With the hearty appetite Nigerian
natives have, we usually save room for lunch and dinnertime, which normally consists
of very large portions of food, my friend Clara who is a native of Nigeria
Lung Capacity And Breath Holding Time
Abstract: This study was conducted to test whether or not lung capacity and breath
holding time are positively correlated. After performing a simple study to test these two
factors, it was found that they are in fact not correlated at all. Both lung capacity and
breath holding time have many different influencing factors that make them uncorrelated
to each other.

I.Introduction
To begin to understand lung capacity and breath holding, one must fully comprehend
the anatomy and physiology of the two systems involved in respiration. While all cells
in the body receive and use oxygen, it is the cardiovascular and respiratory systems
that collect oxygen, transport it to cells, and remove harmful carbon dioxide from the
body. When we inhale, oxygen enters the body through the mouth or the nasal cavity
and then travels down the pharynx (throat) and through the larynx (voice box). The
oxygen then enters the trachea (windpipe), a long tube that carries air to the lungs.
The trachea branches out into two sections before arriving at the lungs, one tube per
each lung. These two tubes are known as the bronchi. The bronchi are surrounded with
small tubes of smooth muscle called bronchioles. These bronchioles can either
constrict or dilate around the bronchi to allow more or less air to flow into the lungs.
Finally, the bronchioles attach to thin sacs of air called alveoli. This is where gas
exchange occurs. The cardiovascular system also plays a big role in respiration as it is the

This report is analysing a fictional blog post.

Defence mechanisms that the author possibly uses will be evaluated.
This report will explain why the author of the blog is making the claims by explaining
the ideas surrounding conspiracy theories.

2.Introduction
The author of the blog post begins by describing two items in the news which they
describe as worrying . Firstly, the announcement of treble subsidies for so called green
energy, which the author explicitly links to the second point that a university has
confirmed global warming is happening, due to carbon emissions. The author expresses

Evidence to support
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) uses scientist from across the
globe to provide detailed information on the dangers that human activity has on the world
s climate. The planet is getting warmer due to the growth of emissions, such as methane
and carbon dioxide (Adams, 2015). To support this the graph below illustrates how
surface temperatures have risen dramatically in recent years (Kerr, 2006).

3.Defence mechanisms
Psychologists have sought to understand why individuals seem to hide away from
information about environmental issues. People generally become anxious when they
encounter different emotions, change or are challenged with undesirable ideas, to
combat this defence mechanisms are triggered (Adams, 2015). It is believed that there
are nine different types of defence mechanisms, which are:
Denial: claiming that environmental problems do not exist (Adams, 2015), or that there
