Programming languages are sets of keywords, symbols, and rules for constructing statements to communicate instructions to computers. The primary function of a programming language is to provide instructions to computer systems so they can perform processing activities. Program code is the set of instructions that signal the CPU to perform operations. Each programming language has its own syntax, or set of rules. Programming languages help solve different problems, such as supporting business applications that require storing and retrieving data.
