B. Seven Steps in Setting Goals

 Think about the results you want to see before you set a goal, take a closer look at what
you’ve trying to achieve and ask the following questions:
 Is this goal something you really want?
 Is it important enough to pour hours of time and effort into it?

 Create SMART goals.

 Once you know on what you actually want, ensure your goal meets the SMART
criteria.

3. Write your goals down.

 Once you already write your goals, make sure to keep them somewhere visible so
that it will remind you to keep working on your goals daily.

4. Create an action plan.

 Your action plan should include all the goals you’re trying to meet and the steps you
need to take to get there.

5. Create a timeline.

 Use a timeline maker to help visualize the roles, tasks, milestones and deadlines to
achieve your goal.

6. Take action

 Now that you’ve planned everything out, it’s time to take action. Each step that you
take should lead to another until you finish your goal.

7. Re-evaluate and asserts your progress.

 Consider a schedule and weekly evaluation, which include measuring your progress
and checking your schedule

IV. POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE ATTRIBUTES OF SETTING GOALS

POSITIVE ATTRIBUTES

Goals often help people set clear and laid out plans they want to achieve.
Achieving your goals reward you with a feeling of satisfaction and joy. It
enables you to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses. Goal setting helps you
get out of your comfort zone.

NEGATIVE ATTRIBUTES
It can add unnecessary pressure, especially if someone has created them. If
you fail to meet your goals, you feel a sense of disappointment. Without goal
setting, knowing the areas in which you need to improve may be difficult to
identify. Without setting goals, you usually tend to do what you normally do
everyday.
