Assessment Task 2 – Performance and Skills
Task summary
This assessment task requires you to prepare, deliver and review presentations for target
audiences.
Required
Access to textbooks/other learning materials.
Access to a computer and Microsoft Office.
Access to the internet.
Note: If you do not have access to Microsoft Office, you must save your work as PDF before
uploading.
Timing
The due date of this assessment is available on your learning management system.

Assessment requirements
All questions must be answered correctly for you to be assessed as having completed the
task satisfactorily.
Re-submission opportunities
You will receive feedback on your performance from your Assessor. The feedback will
indicate if you have satisfactorily addressed the requirements of each part of this task.
If any part of the task is not satisfactorily completed, your assessor will provide you with
written feedback to guide you on what you must undertake to demonstrate satisfactory
performance. This assessment may be re-attempted twice. Your resubmission must be
uploaded within three (3) days of receiving your grade of “not yet satisfactory”. You
must clearly display “Resubmission” on your resubmitted work.
You have the right to appeal the outcome of assessment decisions if you feel that you
have been dealt with unfairly or have other appropriate grounds for an appeal.
You are encouraged to consult with your assessor prior to attempting this task if you do
not understand any part of this task or if you have any learning issues or needs that may
hinder you when attempting any part of the assessment.

Preamble:
This assessment is divided into Three (3) parts:
Part A: Prepare presentation
Part B: Deliver presentation
Part C: Review presentation
You are required to plan and deliver at least two (2) different presentations. One of the
presentations should be on a topic of your choice and the other from the case study below. You
may select any topic that is of interest to you. For example, a business topic, a favourite holiday
destination, recipe, hobby or sport.
Note: Discuss your topic with your trainer before your deliver the presentation.
You must prepare, deliver and review each of your presentations.
Part A: Prepare presentation
Presentation 1:
Hypothetical Scenario: JB HiFi – new video game
You have been asked to present to the JB HiFi team your favourite video game or movie (DVD).
You will need to persuade them to promote this game or movie over the x-mas period. For this
presentation you need to know:
The content of your favourite game or movie
The features of the game or movie
Be able to persuade the team that this DVD or game deserves a prominent place in the
shop and to be the top of the promotions list.
To use the corporate documents to help you put together a presentation.
JB HiFi has corporate branding you need to address in the creation of your presentation and
their sales team and organisational structure documentation is included in additional
resources and research corporate information on JBHiFi website: JB Hi-Fi - Australia's Largest Home
Entertainment Retailer (jbhifi.com.au)
Presentation 2:
Scenario: Choose your own topic
For this presentation you need to choose a topic of your own and address the presentation
structure requirements such as identifying objectives, outcomes, audience, and other
presentation features for your topic choice.

Prepare for each of your presentations by conducting your own research on the topics and
completing the following.
1. Fill in the Presentation Plan template provided for each of your two (2) topics below making
sure you address the following:
a) General information:
- the name of the presentation
- the intended outcome
- date, time, duration and location of presentation
b) Characteristics of the target audience:
- who they are?
- what their roles are
- any special needs or considerations
c) Presentation preparation:
- topics to be covered – break your presentation into sections
- the strategy and delivery method to be used to present each topic
- list all materials, resources and presentation aids needed to conduct the sessions
- describe how you will gather feedback and evaluate the effectiveness of your
presentation

2. Prepare your slideshows (PowerPoints) of 5-8 slides on your chosen topics to be delivered in
Section B of this assessment. Please ensure the following:
• Select suitable presentation aids, materials and techniques that will enhance your
audience understanding, such as graphs, pictures, and the use of colour.
• Ensure you adhere to all the relevant legislations for your industry and selected sector.
Refer to the relevant legislation during your presentation.
• You will need to ensure your presentation is culturally appropriate and your
communication skills relate to people from diverse backgrounds and diverse abilities.
Part C: Review presentations
1. Having completed your presentations and review the feedback you received for both
presentations. Write a Presentation Evaluation Report for each presentation which
addresses the following points in detail:
a) Conduct your own self-assessment of your presentation delivery. Summarise the areas (at
least 3) of your presentation skills which you were happy with.
b) Using the same self-assessment, identify and describe two (2) areas you believe need to
be changed or improved to increase the effectiveness of your presentation.
c) Review the feedback to the presentation (which have been provided by the participants
in the feedback forms). In the table below list two (2) aspects of your presentation that
were not effective and one suggested improvement for each aspect.
