best practice, corporate governance concepts and IT Strategy. Information technology is
considered a strategic resource and should be managed as such.

Learning Unit 4 Strategic IS/IM in Context
Overview:
Most of what you have studied about information systems and information management so
far has focused on the experiences and challenges facing large-scale organisations in the
private sector. In this learning unit, we will examine information systems and information
management issues in the context of two types of organisations very different from this
norm, viz. public sector organisations and small and medium enterprises/organisations.
We will begin by examining the public sector before moving on to e-government, its
strategies and the challenges it faces, as well as its use of emerging technologies. We will
then focus on the role of small and medium enterprises including its drivers and inhibitors,
before ending the unit with a look at the emerging technologies adopted by these
enterprises.

Malware Malicious software developed for the

Pharming Creating fake websites that are similar to
