TEACHER’S

PACK
0. Listen to the synopsis.

SuperAgent 77 just got into the ISIS agency, a place where the best secret
agents in the world are hired. He even got promoted to SuperAgent without
having any field experience, and that’s how he gets special training from
Agent Pi, a ruthless colleague who will teach him the best lessons of the spy
business.
1. Guess how the characters are physically like by reading
their history and behaviour.

SuperAgent 77

Alex Dull wanted to become SuperAgent 77 when he was 7, obviously. He

loved all the Bond movies and wanted to be a spy like him, but his
parents thought he was wasting his time in stupid dreams. When he fin-
ished his engineering degree, he moved to Madrid where he juggled be-
tween studying to enter into the ISIS agency and a waitering job at a
restaurant. He was fired on his first day because he couldn’t hold a soup
dish without spilling everything. He had his first girlfriend when he was 29,
and after she dumped him he thought he had nothing else to lose and tried
the ISIS test.

How do you imagine SuperAgent 77 looks like? Describe both his

clothing and his physical appearence.
Agent Pi

Monica Peterson was the prettiest girl in her class, but she always hanged
out with the boys instead of the girls, and wasn’t interested in a relationship.
She was into math, but never knew how to spell right. Her favourite film was
Searching for Soldier Ryan, and she entered the military to get some real
warfare experience. She quit after two years in Sarajevo and Iran and was
invited to join into ISIS. Since she’s not very good at writing she never had
the opportunity to advance further in her career, so she became the most
experienced basic spy, training all the newcomers.

How do you imagine Agent Pi looks like? Describe both his clothing
and his physical appearence.
2. How is a perfect spy? Fill the blanks with the correct verb.

trust have been

There isn’t such a thing as the perfect spy. Every one of us keeps ______
_______ until we get killed on the field, the greatest honor a spy will ever
have. But there are three things that define what a spy is throughout his
career. If you _________ these things you won’t feel lost, no matter what
happens.

The first thing you must always remember is to have a clear mind and
body. You can’t neither _________ unhealthy food, nor you can’t have any
alcoholic drinks. Everything you see in the movies is a lie. You must
sacrifice everything for the mission.

Which brings us to the point number two. The mission is everything. You
can’t _______ on your feelings towards your colleage, and you must always
________ exposing yourself when you’re infiltrated. Every time you second
guess the mission you’ll ________ yourself and everyone else in your
command.

And that’s why the third and most important thing you must always remem-
ber is to ______ your gut. Your gut is everything. Your heart can betray you
but your gut won’t. He is your only and best companion. Your gut will tell
you if your life is in danger, if you __________ double crossed, if you’ll need
a spare set of clothes. Everything.

So remember all these three points, and you’ll be ready to _________ a true
spy.
Now answer the questions.

Why such a thing as the perfect spy can’t exist?

Why a spy needs to have a clear mind and body?

How could a spy endanger a mission?

Why do you think a spy must trust his/her gut?

situations and then complete the activities.

Dinner Scene

Hello, sir. My name is Anthony and I’ll be your waiter tonight. First of all,
what would you like to drink?

I would like a glass of water, please.

Very good, sir. Our menu tonight has two dishes. For the first dish you
can choose between some pasta and a salad. For the second dish you
can choose between a steak and some fish.

I would like some salad and a steak then, please.

Would you like your steak well done, middle or rare?

Rare, please.

And for dessert what do you want to have? Would you like some ice
cream, a café latte or some fruit?

Some fruit will do, thank you.

We will be serving you immediately, sir. Thank you.

Split in couples and practice the
conversation.
Try to pronuntiate as clearly as possible,
saying every word as slowly as you need,
and do it twice, first as the waiter and
then as customer.

Now... make your own conversation!

Imagine you’re in a bar late at night and you
want to order some drinks. Use the Dinner
Scene as an example and try to do it as po-
litely and correctly as you can.
Office Scene

Hello, sir. Good day.

Hello, sir. Good day to you, too.

How have you been today?

Very good, thanks.

Can you please tell me who are you?

My name is Dr. Narcisse.

And what are you here for?

I’m here to check on the main, big computer.

Who is your supervisor?

My supervisor is Dr. Martin. He’s going to check in later to see if everything is

working properly.

Thank you very much, sir.

SUPERAGENT77
Agent Pie? Hmm... Tasty.

(SUPERAGENT77 realizes what he just did

to her and chickens out, waiting for
AGENT PI to punch him.)

AGENT PI
(Unaltered) Ha. Ha. You're very funny, SUPERAGENT77. I
like you. I'm sure we'll make a good team.

SUPERAGENT77
Team?

AGENT PI
From now on until you have enough training I'm going
to be your superior. You will do as told, no questions
asked. And if you disobey even the slightest of my
orders...

SUPERAGENT77
(Scared) What!? What!?

AGENT PI
I'll put you a bad mark. And if you make three, I'll
report you to my boss...
