IV. PROCEDURES
A. Introductory Review:
Activity Begin the class with a brief review of the previous lessons that covered
the different disciplines under the Humanities and Social Sciences
strand. Recap the main points and concepts of each discipline to
ensure the students have a solid foundation for understanding the
social contexts that shaped them.
Motivation:
Start with an engaging question: "Why do you think society influences
the development of academic disciplines?" Allow the students to share
their thoughts, which will lead to a discussion on how historical events,
cultural shifts, and societal needs drive the evolution of academic
fields.
Activity: " The Roots of Knowledge "
Conduct an interactive workshop titled "The Roots of Knowledge".
Divide the class into small groups, and assign each group a discipline
(e.g., Psychology, Sociology, History, Political Science, etc.). Provide
each group with a timeline template and a set of events, cultural shifts,
and societal needs on cards. They must place these cards on the
timeline where they believe these factors influenced the development
of their assigned discipline.
B. Activity/Strategy
Instructions:
1. Each group will present their timeline to the class and explain
why they placed each card in that specific period.
2. Encourage other groups to ask questions or add insights to the
timeline.
3. Facilitate a discussion on the commonalities and differences
between the timelines of different disciplines.
After the workshop, guide students in analyzing how the social context
during different eras influenced the disciplines. Questions for analysis
