II. SO WHAT?
I was very happy to finish writing my blogs this week. My creative writing juices were running
low, and trying to write interestingly was becoming increasingly difficult. However, I was glad to
get some feedback on my first two blogs that I was able to implement into my last two posts.

INTERNSHIP (ED 444 & PE 445) WEEKLY REFLECTION
After seeing the first post published I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment at being able to
share the amazing stories of women who have historically been underrepresented or
overlooked. I hope that those who read my blogs gain something, whether that is enjoyment or
knowledge, from them.
I quite enjoyed working on creating a summer program database for W4C. However, I am not
sure if I did it as effectively and efficiently as I could have. Initially, I compiled a list of as many
different summer programs in Indy that I could find. I then added all their contact and program
information. Looking back, I think I could have saved myself a lot of time by thinking about the
way Youth Engage! could connect or work with them before doing all this work. Now, I
potentially spent too much time researching information that we will probably not even use
because it is irrelevant. However, on the other hand, ensuring all that information is there
might potentially expand the scope that Youth Engage! committee originally had, increasing
opportunity for growth and expansion.
In addition to this, this week I struggled with staying focused which had an impact on how
efficiently I worked. The difference between my ability to concentrate remotely and in the
office is very stark. I feel bad when I am not being as productive as I feel like I could be, so this
bothers me and is something I want to improve on in the coming days and weeks.
Moving forward I want to increase my focus and productivity especially when I am working
remotely. My plans to do this include utilizing timers more often, moving to new spaces, and
giving myself to-do lists each morning of the work I want to complete each day. Using timers
will help me to maintain focus for short periods and then reward myself with a very short break
that I can use to move around and then refocus. This will help me to be able to sit for more
than a few minutes without checking my phone or emails. Moving to new spaces will help
maintain variety that will foster productivity and by making to-do lists I will have tangible goals
to work towards every work day. I will measure how all these things affect my productivity by
reflecting on how accomplished I feel at the end of the day and the different types/amounts of
tasks I get done each week.
