Hours: 37 hours per week worked between 8am and 6pm Monday to
Thursday and 8am to 4:30pm on Friday.
Role Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible to create a workforce data science dashboard, and
informed methodology, to support the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical
Activity’s (CIMSPA) national sport and physical activity workforce planning objectives. This KTP
holds a critical role in achieving CIMSPAs vision of shaping a recognised, valued and inclusive sport
and physical activity sector in the UK.
The Associate will be based at CIMSPA Head Offices, Sports Park Loughborough, Leicester
with scope for some home working. They will benefit from a training package in excess of £4,000.
They will benefit from academic mentoring and professional supervisors as well as guidance and
support from their KTP advisor.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Data Science Associate, who has the prospect of developing a
national workforce data science dashboard, and informed methodology, to direct the Chartered
Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity’s (CIMSPA) decision-making and
influencing national sport and physical activity workforce governance, policy and strategies across
the UK.

ROLE PROFILE
• Data Processing: Transform raw data from various sources into a usable format, ensuring
accuracy and relevancy for the dashboard.
• Data Security & Ethics: Ensure ethical sourcing and secure storage of data, focusing on server-
side logic.
• Workforce Planning: Identify skills gaps at a local level through the use of the data governance
tool, and help inform decision-making around workforce development.
• Training and Development: Assist in the creation of the CIMSPA Academy to deliver formal
and non-formal qualifications for sports and physical activity roles.
• Collaboration with University: Work closely with Cardiff Metropolitan University to benefit from
industry insight, data engineering, and design thinking workshops, training sessions, and one-
on-one coaching.
• Skill Development: Participate in training sessions to develop new skills in data collection,
transformation, modelling, visualisation, data warehousing, statistical analysis, data mining,
machine learning, and dashboard development.
• Knowledge Transfer: Disseminate the results of the project to scientific and professional
practice communities both in the UK and internationally, contributing to the overall knowledge
base.
• Solutions Delivery: Deliver creative workforce planning solutions for the sport and physical
activity sector, supporting the creation of new commercial training opportunities through the
national academy concept.
• To provide a progress report for presentation at the Local Management Committee (LMC)
meetings;
• Convene and lead monthly technical meetings to discuss progress, targets and resources;

• Adhere to all confidentiality, IPR, IIP, health and safety procedures etc., established within the
Company and Cardiff Metropolitan University;
• Complete a final report quantifying the benefits that have been achieved prior to the agreed
end of the KTP programme;
• Any other duties that may be reasonably assigned by the Knowledge Base Supervisor/
Industrial Supervisor.
