1. The questions should be
clear and concise.
2. The respondents should be
given limited options so that
the data can be easily analyzed.
3. Two or more questions in
one sentence is advisable if
they are clearly stated.
4. There should be an 'out
option' such as NONE or DOES
NOT APPLY.
5. Time reference should be
specified.
6. Personal questions can
be asked as long as they
are not embarrassing.
7. Instructions should outline
instructions or directions
clearly and understandably.

Pick any set of ‘tarpapel’ for your group. Discuss the

which type of survey question they refer to. On the board,

question they refer to. Assign someone in your group to

respondents to order answer
choices by way of preference

• Example:

• A demographic question
subdivides the target population
based on personal information

Contingency Questions
• intended for certain respondents only,
