★ Full Name : Aeronautical Engineering Branch, popularly called Technical
Branch

○ Weapons & Armament (except SAGW)

★ Surface-to-Air-Guided Weapons (SAGW) -- Missiles

★ A comparison of the existing system (IMMOLS - Integrated Material

Adm Branch
Three sub branches as follows:

★ Adm (General), generally referred to, simply, as Adm

★ Adm (ATC) : ATC -- Air Traffic Controller

★ Adm (FC) : FC -- Fighter Controller


Adm (General)
Basic Functions:

★ All manpower related issues like:


○ Recruitment (Induction)
○ Training (except trade training)
○ Documentation (referred to as POR in IAF & Pt II orders in Army)
○ Postings (Transfers)
○ Promotions
○ Honours & Awards
○ Retirement & post-retirement issues
○ Discipline (including court martials)
★ Work Services (civil construction) through MES
Adm (ATC)
★ Basic Function : Regulating & Controlling Air Traffic & all issues related to
Flight Safety

★ Distinctive badge on uniform

★ Nature of Duties for civilian controllers posted at airfields with extraordinary


high traffic
Adm (FC)
★ Basic Function : Ground-Controlled- Interception
★ Assisting the Fighter Pilot engaged in aerial combat with the enemy aircraft
by continuously providing him relevant inputs gathered from the ground radar
through data link
★ Since, for joining Adm branch, technical qualifications are not a prerequisite,
therefore, the general Adm officers desirous of converting to fighter
controllers stream are given additional 6 month training to enable them to
perform these functions effectively.
Education Branch
★ Basic Function : To help officers & men to prepare for their promotion
examinations as also to conduct such examinations

★ To facilitate smooth operation of educational institutes run by IAF as welfare


measures
Accounts Branch
Basic Functions are:

★ Personnel Accounting
★ Equipment Accounting (Inventory)
★ Monitoring & Regulating the functioning of Non-Public Funds (NPFs)
★ Facilitate smooth switchover of personnel from active service to pensioners
Meteorology Branch
★ Importance of Weather forecasting for air operations

★ Complexity involved in modern day weather forecasting
