Task 1: Configuring the Keyboard Language
Learn how to set up the keyboard language in Trainee machine.
Step 1: Because we have students from all over the world taking this class, there
are many keyboard layouts that might be in use. Regardless of which keyboard
you use; you will need to configure the keyboard language in the Trainee
machine.
Step 2: Note that the default keyboard is English (US). If that is what you use, you
do not need to change anything. However, if you use a different keyboard
layout, select it from the dropdown.
Important Note: See Task 2 in case you still have problem with the keyboard mapping.

Task 2: Using the On-screen Keyboard
If you have any problems with getting the keyboard language to work properly,
there is another option available. You can use the on-screen keyboard built into
Trainee machine.
Step 1: If you still have trouble entering certain characters due to keyboard
language issues, there an alternate option for inserting text: the on-screen
keyboard.
a. When your cursor is on a field that can support text, you can click on the
shortcut in the left side of the screen to launch the on-screen
keyboard.
b. You can disable the on-screen keyboard by clicking the red keyboard icon

Task 3: Copying/Pasting Text
It may be necessary to copy and paste text either within the Trainee machine or
from outside the Trainee machine and into it.
The copy/paste command are totally transparent so:
• CRTL+C to copy a text present in the VM and CRTL+V to paste into the Ubuntu
machine.
• CTRL+C on your laptop and CTRL+V in the Ubuntu machine to paste it.
• CTRL+C on the Ubuntu machine and CTRL+V in your laptop
If you are in the Terminal of Trainee machine CTRL+C and CTRL+V will not work so
please use right click (see screenshot below)

Task 4: Switching to Fullscreen
In order to make their environment less cluttered, students may wish to change to
Fullscreen mode. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Click Display on the left in Cloudshare, then click Fullscreen:
Step 2: Once in Fullscreen, to go back to normal screen click on the little arrow
available at the top of the screen and select Exit from the dropdown
Important Note: In case of problem with the resolution please click on Display in the
Cloudshare left-hand side menu, then Resolution and select Fit screen.
