THE STORY OF TWO LEGENDS

After the passing of two of the most

important Brazilian soccers in history , the
legend Pele and the Idol Roberto Dinamite,
our team of journalists think that is fair to
remember and celebrate the life of two of the
most capable man to get in a soccer field.
Roberto Dinamite
Carlos Roberto de Oliveira was born in 1954 in
the famous city of Duque de caxias in the state
of Rio De janeiro and from a young age showed
interest in soccer and At 12 years old “Calu”
was already the striker of the his neighborhood
soccer team, Esporte Clube São Bento.
In 1969 when he was 15 years old, he met the
man that changed his life, Gradim, that invited
him to play at the junior team of the soccer club
Vasco da Gama, the team that he would be
associated with until and after the end of his
life.
In 1970 he already was the best player in the
junior league with 10 points in one season, the
year after he made 13 points and kept the title
of best player. With this much talent, he catch
the eye of Mario Travaglini who put him in the
main team of Vasco da Gama. After some time in
the main team, a headline from sports journal
comes out “ Vasco escala garoto dinamite”, this
headline meant the death of Calu and the birth
of the legend Roberto Dinamite.
Roberto played in Vasco da Gama for almost 22
years old and was known for his, opportunism,
competence and luck. Besides that, he also
could take free kicks as nobody else and also
develop the ability to shoot with both of his legs.
Those characteristics made him a dangerous
player to play against. During his 22 years of
career he approximately made 36 points per
season and played in more than a 1000 soccer
matches.
Pele
Roberto Dinamite, was a legend, but one
thing that we cannot forget is the legacy
of Pelé (also known as the King of
Soccer); his early history shows us on
how he gained his title, after all the
things that he had been through, got the
recognition for his dedication, as he
grew up in poverty and had to polish
shoes to help in hisI family income.
He had a great interest in soccer, after
all, he was a kid growing up in Brazil, the
boy showed a talent. After a long day of
work he would play for a local minor
league club, and it was the same place
that he got his first break. As early you
might think Pelé proved to be one of the
greatest and youngest player to lead a
national team to victory, only at 17
years, he scored a whopping 6 goals
during 58' World Cup, leading Brazil to
win the cup at that year.
After that his fame and games spread
like wildfire, every game, was considered
to be the greatest. In camp, he was like a
cheetah, running smoothly as one might
think, he had the vision, the game, and
the team. Truly, a beast in camp,
unfortunately, both legends are gone,
but their legacies continues to
reinvigorate and inspire the new
generation.
