ENGAGE:
Teaching Strategy: Role-Playing

Instructional Materials: Printed scenarios, props


1) Idea - Divide the class into groups and assign each group a different scenario
where they have to make decisions that involve the interrelationship of self and
community in undertaking community action. The students will act out the scenarios
and discuss the implications of their actions.
2) Idea - Conduct a class discussion using the K-W-L (Know-Want to know-Learned)
chart to explore the students' prior knowledge, questions, and expectations about
community engagement, solidarity, and citizenship.

Activity 1: Community Action Plan

Teaching Strategy: Project-Based Learning

Materials: Chart paper, markers, sticky notes

undertaking community action.
3) In small groups, students will share their reflections and engage in a guided
discussion about the common themes and insights that emerged.
