Aim: To prepare a collodial solution from egg albumin.
Theory: Egg albumin forms hydrophilic sol with water at room temperature. The sol obtained is quite
stable and are not affected by the presence of any impurities.
Procedure: Break the egg shell with the help of glass rod carefully and collect the liquid content into a
beaker, Decant only white part of the egg i.e. egg albumin. It is mainly contains hydroprotein. Take 100 ml
of distilled water in a another beaker. Put egg albumin drop wise drop with constant stirring. Filter the
solution flask and labeled it as colloid solution of egg “albumin”.
Precautions:
1. Break the egg carefully
2. Decant only white part of egg
3. String must be contains
4. Use distilled and cold water
5. All apparatus must be neat and clean.
