Statement of Purpose: Academic Background and Professional Career
Statement of Purpose: Academic Background and Professional Career
To,
The Visa Officer,
High Canada commission
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
To pursue Post-Graduation in Mechanical Engineering; requires certain determination and strength of
character. In recent times, the fierce Engineering world has become rapidly grown across once restricting
borders and anyone with high goals within the Engineering world must have a world perspective and
remember the realities of various international arenas. I am unique and singly fortunate, to possess
various backgrounds both academically and professionally, which have exposed me to different tools,
cities, people, cultures and languages. I am conversant in the increasingly important markets of designing
regions and intrinsically I'm thoroughly prepared for the strain and challenges presented by undertaking
study within the Engineering program at such a reputed institution.
In the year 2011, I passed my 10th standard with 79.40%. After that, I choose Science stream as it
provides lot of options while taking admission to College or University and completed my schooling in the
year 2013. After lot of research, I enrolled myself in a 4-years program, which was Bachelor of
Mechanical Engineering. In 2017, I completed my graduation with a 7.78 CGPA. Throughout my
studies, I dedicate my 100% effort into each activity such as Sports, School Level competitions and many
more.
After my graduation in Mechanical Engineering from Gujarat Technological University (GTU), I learned a
lot, but the limitations of the rapidly growing Mechanical industry quickly became apparent to me.
Therefore, I, sought employment outside my comfort zone after graduation, during which, I found out
that I could efficiently utilize my skills. Thereafter, I began working with the Research and Development
Department of Gunnebo India Pvt. Ltd., from January, 2018 to January, 2020, where I learned the phases
of new product design and development, preparing BOM for device designing strategies. After that, to
seek more experience in the corporate world, I started working for C olumbia Machine Engineering (I) Pvt.
Ltd., where I learned different skill sets, team handling, client’s relationship, maintaining quality
drawings, maintain records in PLM/PDM software. I had been working there between January, 2020 and
May, 2021. Presently, I am employed with Nysha Solutions as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. Here I have
attained an exposure of international clients and developed product and project handling skills.
Mechanical is the future and it is a great field to work, but it also requires constant learning and keeping
yourself updated as the technology keeps on changing time by time. I believe that I require the higher
knowledge to work in an engineer position in this field. This course combines engineering theory and
practical that emphasizes the design and development of various mechanical devices and equipment
which work in fast-growing industries, with a strong emphasis on real-world problem-solving and
international trends. Through hands-on approach, I'll learn advanced computer-aided design and
manufacturing (CAD/CAM) as used in the industry. Apart from this, I will also gain my insight into Jigs
and Fixtures design, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and Manufacturing and Project
Management skills. I have never studied any of these yet and as a result it has become arduous for me to
enhance my professional life. During my employment period, I have gained knowledge about Autodesk
Inventor, AutoCAD, and Solid works and it would help me to understand more about my further
education in Canada as well.
Moreover, I will get an insight into time on project workplace assignments, actual design, and the
manufacturing process. In addition, one course will introduce Autodesk Suit and its various levels that
will help me to develop core understanding of the design. Mechanical Engineering Technology - Design is
the most advanced field in education, which is useful for the development of products and production
machineries for the various field and that will prepare me for the successful and lucrative future in this
field. Hence, after considering all possible outcomes, I concluded that I will pursue Applied Manufacturing
Management - Design Integration. By studying this course, I will acquire targeted skills through a
combination of coursework, exercises and research. I will have the chance to develop and implement a
pragmatic approach and fathom various aspects and concepts in the realm of Engineering.
After deciding on my preference for the course and education in Canada, I started to search for a proper
College for my consideration. I looked up course structure, international student support and fee
structure and campus facility about college and finally, I searched those at Conestoga College that
provided an Applied Manufacturing Management - Design Integration program. I came across various
institutes but found Conestoga College as the most ideal place to get educated due to the factors such as
Accreditation, Geographic Location, Size of College, Overall Cost, Academic Quality, Program, Reputation
& importance; Prestige, renowned professors; Research Facilities and Social Life. Conestoga College is
committed to teaching quality education with an ideal setting and holistic approach for its students, also
the student satisfaction ratio is good with this institution. The course contents of the College match what I
was seeking, and it is unique. Also, it has an affordable fee structure than other colleges in Canada. After
researching deeply about course contents, cost of education, rankings, services for international students,
and living costs in all states, I finally desire to study at Conestoga College. They also provide support
services and opportunities at their campus. I am certain that studying at Conestoga College would be one
of the most productive decisions of my life.
Canada is my preference aim to consider and obtain an international qualification because it is a country
that has many aspects that are to be considered by one before deciding to finalize the place to study.
Under its profoundly dynamic and hands-on academic environment, I will not only obtain expertise and
skills of being a professional, but will also learn how to express myself, demonstrate my creativity, and
develop my self-confidence. I believe Canada is a country with the highest standard of living, having all
the qualities one can learn, understand, and adapt to. Moreover, it is providing a safe environment for the
students who are coming to live and study there with outstanding levels of universal education, a high-
grade health care system, a low crime rate, and less violence are factors that make the country a
preference to pursue. Graduates from Canadian institutions are highly sought after due to the impressive
international reputation of the education system. Its degrees are recognized all-round the globe and
especially have much value in the Indian market as well. I perceive that learning in Canada will provide
me with a solid framework for achieving professional responsibility, proficiency, and lifetime career
development on my return to India.
Future Plans and Ties to India:
Mechanical Engineering is considered one of the most rewarding careers in India. It also gives creative
satisfaction to a professional who wants to build their carrier in the engineering field. Several Engineers
around the country have been able to achieve great fame with their outstanding design and
Manufacturing skills with good talent. Further, in India, there is a very high demand for Engineers,
especially in the Mechanical field who can Design machines and various parts with profound skills.
However, such a scenario is not possible with my present knowledge due to fresh market knowledge
being an important part of Engineering. Therefore, after gaining a profound knowledge of Applied
Manufacturing Management - Design Integration, I would like to come back to my home country and
serve here in India for a better future for my nation. Moreover, Software and hands-on training during my
academics in Canada would not only enhance my professional growth but also gain me insight into
personal field experience and the technicality of the subject. I would like to come back to my home
country and serve here in India for a better future for my nation. I will be able to work as Design
Engineer, CAD Engineer, Project and Product Engineer, Senior Mechanical Engineer, and Tool and
Product Designer. I will able to work in various Indian Government and Private sectors such as, Machine
Design Industries, Design Centers, Power Sector, Oil and Gas Industries, Automobile Industries,
Manufacturing Industries, and Marine Industries and so on.
I would like to draw your attention that my father is a government school teacher and mother is a
homemaker. My brother is Special Child & mentally challenged, so he is not able to take any
responsibilities. Thus, my parents will be my sole responsibility for me and I don’t have any option but to
return back and look after my parents and support them along with my brother, on completion of higher
studies. Not only that, the present organization, where I am working has given me sabbatical and will be
retaining me, once I come back to India (relevant documents attached for the same).
In the end, I would like to thank you for going through my statement of purpose. I have attached all the
necessary documents with my application. I am utterly committing to build up my career in the dynamic
field of Engineering. Therefore, I request you to consider my application and provide me with a study
permit so that I can reach my desired goal.
I hope your committee will consider my application for admission for the upcoming semester. I look
forward to hearing from you soon and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email
at [email protected].
