Good morning and welcome to the Nusa in the hall Bali International Convention Centre
Nusa Dua Bali for the opening ceremony of asia-pacific regional microcredit summit
2008
without further a do, now please help me welcome our first speaker director of the
microcredit summit campaign mr. Sam dally Harris
excellencies distinguished delegates, ladies and gentlemen we would like to invite to the
podium to deliver his remarks governor of Bank Indonesia Dr. Budiono
it is now my deep pleasure to introduce the managing director of the Grameen Bank
and 2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate professor Muhammad Yunus
at this very moment we recognize the hard work and strong commitment a First Lady of
the Republic of new Nisha mrs. Hodja Annie bambang yudhoyono in supporting women
empowerment through microfinance
she initiated a microfinance program for women entrepreneurs which then was
formalized by the Ministry of cooperative and SME in a program called prakasha or
women with healthy and wealthy families program
this scheme provides a strong foundation for microfinance cooperatives run by women
whose clients are also primarily women
first lady Yudhoyono also initiated a program called mobile pintar or smart car which
aims to improve the reading habits of people in rural and urban area
this program widens the access to information of those living in poverty which in turn
promotes intrapreneurship these initiatives serve as key roles in meeting the Millennium
Development Goals and investing in our future
once again please join me in recognizing the first lady as the newly integrated patroness
of internation microfinance
excellencies distinguished guests delegates ladies and gentlemen it is our honor to
have the president of the republic of indonesia his Excellency dr. susilo bambang
yudhoyono to deliver a keynote speech and afterward we would like to request the
president to officially open the asia-pacific regional microcredit summit 2008 ladies and
gentlemen the President of the Republic of Indonesia excellencies distinguished
delegates ladies and gentlemen a very good evening to you all welcome welcome to the
closing dinner of the 2008 asia-pacific regional microcredit summit well excellencies
ladies and gentlemen we have had productive and inspiring time together and this
three-day summit is about to come to the very end this evening after dinner after the
dinner we will hear from the speakers of our closing dinner our speakers include the
former President of Peru dr. Alejandro Toledo the Nobel laureate professor Muhammad
Yunus director of the microcredit summit campaign mr. sam delhi harris and deputy
governor of Bank Indonesia mr. s Gutierrez Adi excellencies ladies and gentlemen as
we are here in Bali one of the world's best island we would like to take this opportunity
to present to you some parts just few of the Balinese rich culture including the
performing arts in just about a moment as our welcome greeting to you we will present a
Balinese dance and later at the closing there will be another one so ladies and
gentlemen without further ado please welcome the five beautiful dancers extending our
warmest welcome to you all this is the dance of Chilean Naya you please give a warm
round of applause to the dancers of chilly nya dance excellencies ladies and gentlemen
another Balinese dance will be perform later on at the closing and for now it is a time to
enjoy dinner kindly be invited to proceed to the food stalls and we do hope you enjoy
your dinner while you enjoy the dinner the live music will entertain you and as
Indonesian says Salam - Bon Appetit please enjoy dinner oh dear oh happy
excellencies ladies and gentlemen as our farewell bid we would like to present to you on
this stage a Balinese dance which keurig Rafi was inspired by a Hindu epic story
namely Mahabharata please welcome the dance of Satya Rasta well we do hope the
Balinese dances presented in this closing dinner will give you a great memory of Bali
and that memory will invite you back to explore Bali in the near future excellencies
ladies and gentlemen we now come to the end of this closing dinner and also the 2008
asia-pacific regional microcredit summit on behalf of the host and the committee we'd
like to extend once again our deepest appreciation to you all for your support in
participations we wish you a safe journey back home once again thank you and good
