CATCH-UP FRIDAYS TEACHING GUIDE

Time: 6:00 – 8:30 AM Date: February 2, 2024
II. Session Outline
Session At the end of the session, learners will be able to:
Objectives: a) Improve learners’ vocabulary through learning new words.
b) Read a variety of reading materials silently.
c) Develop learners’ understanding of the materials read.
III. Teaching Strategies

 The learners gather their chosen reading
materials and find a comfortable spot.
 Teachers create a quiet and conducive reading
A. Pre-Reading 10 mins
atmosphere.
 Brief relaxation exercises for a reading mindset

 Learners read independently or with a partner.


 Teachers also set a positive example by engaging
in reading.
B. During Reading 25 mins  Minimal movement or distractions; learners stay
focused on their books.
 Encourage writing or drawing if a learner finishes
early.

 Voluntary sharing of interesting parts, themes, or


book recommendations
 Teachers facilitate a brief discussion on the
importance of reading.
C. Post-Reading 15 mins
 Learners relate stories to personal experiences
during sharing.
