CHAPTER 7 INSTALLATION

NOTE: USB keyboard and USB mouse are needed for installation work.

7.1 XN-XX instrument installation

7.1.1 XN-530/550
(1) Remove tape from the front of the instrument.

(2) Remove tape from the reagent holder.

(3) Remove the cover as shown in Fig.

(4) Remove tape from the sample holder open/close unit.

(5) Remove tape from the hand unit.

(6) Remove the machine screws with captive washers (for thin plate t0.8) M3 x 16 SUS: x2 that fasten
fixture NO. 1657.

(7) Remove the machine screws with captive washers (for thin plate t0.5) M3x8 SUS: x2, and then
remove Fixture NO.1657.

(8) Replace the cover.

(9) Remove the indicated binder clip NO. 105 and CV-250 bundled wire shipping stopper.

(10) Two plates (INTERRUPTER PLATE NO.395) are installed on the bottom of the two sampler
adapters (ADAPTER NO.328) respectively, then set the adapters to the sampler, the installation
positions shown as below for the plate are used for setting the testing tube.[AH]
*The following picture shows the normal tube position is installed by the plate (INTERRUPTER
PLATE NO.395).

(1) Remove tape from the reagent holder.

(2) Remove tape from Protective Cover No.174.[AN]


Note: Please do not remove the Protective Cover No.174.

7.2 Tube/cable/reagent connections

7.2.1 Tube/reagent connections


(1) Connect each dispensing set and reagent (Cellpack DCL, Sulfolyser, Lysercell WDF, and Cellpack
DFL) to the back of the instrument.
Parts used: Intake Tube_ASSY NO.58
Intake Tube_ASSY NO.60
Intake Tube_ASSY NO.61
Intake Tube_ASSY NO.62

Caution: [BM]
Be sure to connect the instrument waste fluid to a waste container in the facility (a
container that has an insertion nipple for the waste tube or other means of fixing the
waste tube so that there is no risk of waste fluid splattering) or an optional waste
tank.
When connected to a waste container in the facility, periodically verify that the
waste tube is securely connected and there is no risk of waste fluid splattering.

(2) Install Fluorocell WDF and Fluorocell RET stains on ASP_ASSY NO. 62 in the instrument (left side).
(3) After installation, a "beep" will sound. Make sure that the error message disappears.

7.2.2 Cable connections
(1) Connect power cable TA-6P(A)+TA-5(A) H05VV-F to the instrument (back).
(2) Connect the keyboard, mouse, and hand-held barcode reader to the USB ports on the instrument
(top of back side).BARCODE READER_ASSY NO. 29 ((USB))

(3) Adding Connector


When RU-20 or waster sensor is not used, static protection connector (provided in supply parts)
must be connected as shown.

7.2.3 Monitor cable connections (XN-530/550)
[550 only] Connect the Touch Panel Monitor TM104-SYX01 and cables to the instrument.

7.3 Starting the instrument [BA]

(1) Switch the power on the back of the instrument to "ON".

(2) Press the button on the left side of the front to start the IPU.
Caution: Do not touch the screen to log on with Hotstart. If you touch the splash screen before the
Initial setup Wizard appears and Initial setup Wizard is not displayed, press [Alt+TAB] so that Initial
setup Wizard can be brought to the front. Then, proceed to the step (3).
If you turn off the analyzer when Initial setup Wizard is not displayed after touching the splash
screen before the Initial setup Wizard appears, the IPU will start up with Japanese. In this case,
you need to initialize the database and set up the configuration. For procedure, refer to “XN-L
series IPU Recovery Procedure When IPU starts up in Japanese on Installation.”

(3) The screen below appears. Set the destination and units, and press the "OK" button.
- Destination : Select EU, JP, AM, or CN.
- Units : Set "Use" or "Do not use" SI units.

Caution:
Set the destination and units settings with care.
If any changes become necessary, initialization of the settings will be required.

(4) The dialog box below appears. Press the [Yes] button.

(5) Make sure that you have set the configuration as intended, and press the [Close] button.

(6) Splash screen will appear again, then touch the screen after confirming [Start up] and green dots
are shown in the right bottom of the screen.

(7) After beeps, confirm [Service Mode On] shown in the right bottom of the screen.

(8) Touch "Manual". The keyboard screen appears.

(9) Enter the service mode logon name and password, and press "OK".

(10) Press [Logon].

(11) When the screen appears, select as indicated below.


▪ Error "Not ignore"
▪ Sequence "Skip all initial sequence"
▪ Heater "ON"
▪ Auto validation/output "OFF"

(12) Close the screen with "OK".


The air pump starts, and startup operation takes place.

(13) Wait until the green part of the display in the lower left corner of the screen changes from blinking
to solidly lit, and "Starting up..." changes to "Enter a sample number".

(14) Touch “Version”.

(15) When following screen appears, touch “Upgrade”.

(16) When following screen appears, enter license code and touch “verify”.[AJ]

(17) Touch “Turn off”. Instrument will be turned off automatically.

(18) Press start button on the front panel to startup the instrument.

(19) Touch the screen when beep sounds once and hold the touching the screen until beep sounds
twice.
(20) Touch “Power” icon at lower left in logon screen.

(21) Touch “Config” button in screen.

(22) The screen below appears. Enter “sysmex” in the [Login Name] field and enter “c9.0” in the
[Password] field, and press the [login] button.

(24) Wait while the instrument restarts.
XN-L series IPU Recovery Procedure When IPU starts up in Japanese upon Installation

Note:
1) This procedure can be used when the analyzer is started up in Japanese, after turning
the analyzer OFF and back ON when Initial setup wizard stays on the back of splash
screen with a destination setting “JP”.
2) This procedure describes initialization process of region settings and stored data by
executing “XNL_Data Initialize.exe.” The program “XNL_Data Initialize.exe” will
initialize only the region setting and stored data. It does not initialize NVRAM file.

(1) Turn the analyzer power ON.


(2) When the system displays the splash screen and then a blip sounds one time, keep touching the
screen until two blips sound (Hotstart).
(3) Press the power button on IPU logon screen.
(4) Press [Config] button on the screen.
(5) When “SysmexCustomShell” appears, login with the login name and password shown below.
Login name: “sysmex”
Password: “c9.0”
(6) Press [Start] button in the “SysmexCustomShell” screen to start the Windows Mode.
(7) Wait until the analyzer automatically shuts down and reboots.
(8) After the analyzer reboots, login with the login name and password shown below,
after“SysmexCustomShell” appears.
Login name: “sysmex”
Password: “c9.0”
(9) Press [Start IPU] button.
(10) When the splash screen appears and a blip sounds one time, keep touching the screen until two
blips sound (Hotstart).
(11) Press the power button on IPU logon screen.
(12) Press [Config] button on the screen.
(13) The Windows desktop appears and you can open the windows explorer.
(14) Initialize the analyzer settings by executing “XNL_Data Initialize.exe” in D:\Sysmex\Tools.
*The program “XNL_Data Initialize.exe” will initialize only the region setting and stored data. It does
not initialize NVRAM file.
(15) Press [Finish] to exit the Windows mode.
(16) Upon next startup of the analyzer, do not touch the screen to avoid starting the analyzer with
Hotstart.
Then, the regional settings screen will be displayed. Select appropriate destination and press
“Complete.” When the settings are successfully complete, the analyzer starts up in the appropriate
language.

7.4 Setting

7.4.1 Software settings

Caution: [BP]
Software and Windows settings should not be changed except for certain items
described in this chapter. If changed, it may cause the device to malfunction.
Example: If changing the following item, it was confirmed that the IPU browser
screen program will not work properly.
(Control Panel -> Personalization -> Change the theme)

7.4.1.1 System configuration settings (System Configurator)


(1) The dialog box below appears. Press [Yes]. If the system configuration has not been set, Sys-
tem Configurator automatically starts when the instrument power is turned on.
* If the system configuration is already set, System Configurator does not automatically start.
If you need to change the system configuration settings, Run "D:\Sysmex\IPU\IPUSystem-
Config.exe".Press [Change Setting] in the screen of (3).

(2) The screen below appears. Set the destination and units, and press the "OK" button.
- Destination : Select EU, JP, AM, or CN.
- Units : Set "Use" or "Do not use" SI units.

Caution:
Set the destination and units settings with care.
If any changes become necessary, initialization of the settings will be required.

(3) The dialog box below appears. Press the [Yes] button.

(4) Make sure that you have set the configuration as intended, and press the [Close] button.

7.4.1.2 Common procedure for using Windows to perform tasks


(1) The screen below appears. Enter “sysmex” in the [Login Name] field and enter “c9.0” the
[Password] field, and then press the [Login] button.

(2) The dialog box below appears. Press the [Start] button.

(3) Wait while the instrument restarts.

(4) Perform the necessary tasks in Windows.


(5) When finished, enter sysmex for the login name in the screen below, and press the [Login] button.

(6) Press the [Finish] button below.

(7) The instrument automatically restarts and the screen below appears ("Finish" and "Shutdown"
are disabled).
Wait while the instrument automatically shuts down.

(8) When the screen disappears, turn off the instrument power.

7.4.1.3 Keyboard setting
* A mouse and keyboard must be connected to perform this task.

(1) Select "Control Panel" - "Regional and Language Options".


(2) Click the [Change keyboards] button.

(3) Click the [Add] button in the "Text Services and Input Languages" screen.

* Adding an English keyboard


In the "Add Input Language" screen, select [English (United States)] - [Keyboard] - [US], and
click the [OK] button.
(To set a different language, follow the same procedure.)

7.4.1.4 Touch panel settings [AJ]
(1) Press the power button.

(2) Press "Config" in the confirmation dialog box to close the IPU.

(3) The Windows screen appears.

(4) Double-click the “Calwin.exe - shortcut”.

(5) When the "Touch Panel Settings" screen opens, select the "Calibration" tab.

1. Select the "20 Points (5 x 4)" checkbox in "Number of correction points (R)".
2. Press "Apply".
3. Press "Execute Correction (N)" in "Correction Program (C)".

(6) The screen changes to the screen at right.


Touch the " + " marks that appear on the screen in the order that they appear.

(7) When you have finished touching the 20 marks, the "Calibration" screen will appear.
Press "Update".

(8) Close all dialog boxes that are open.

7.4.1.5 GP printer settings


* Perform this task after you have installed the printer driver.
* A mouse and keyboard must be connected to perform this task.
(1) Select "Control Panel" - "Hardware and Sound" - "Devices and Printers".
(2) Right-click the icon of the printer to be used, and select "Properties".
(3) On the General tab, enter "GP PRINTER" for the printer name.

7.4.1.6 Installation procedure for online manual


* A mouse and keyboard must be connected to perform this task.
* Connect a media, which is including online IFU manual.
(1) Open D:\SYSMEX\MANUAL.
(2) Create a new folder as follows.

(3) Copy online IFU manual stored in the connected media to the folder created above step.

(4) Start IPU program.
(5) When approval screen for Adobe Reader appears, touch “Accept”.
(6) Logon to IPU with “sysmex” user.
(7) Confirm that the IFU manual apprear when “Instruction for Use” icon in the “Menu” is touched.

7.4.1.7 Default rules (not supported)

7.4.1.8 Locale setting [AJ] [BM] [BN]


* A mouse and keyboard must be connected to perform this task.
(1) Select "Control Panel" - "Clock, Language, and Region" - "Date and Time Options”.

(2) Click "Change time zone..."

(3) When the setting is different from your time zone, select appropriate one.
(4) Click "Change date and time...”

(5) Set the date and time to the current date and time and click OK.

(6) Click OK to close the "Date and Time" dialog.

(7) Select "Control Panel" - "Clock, Language, and Region" - "Regional and Language Options".

(8) Select the [Administrative] tab, and click the [Change system locale] button.

(9) Select the system locale of the installation location, and click the [OK] button.

(10) A restart message appears. Execute restart.

(11) Right-click "McAfee Solidifier Command Line" on the desktop, and select "Run as administra-
tor" to run.

(12) The McAfee Solidifier command line (DOS prompt) screen opens.

(13) Input “sadmin eu” from the keyboard, then press the [Enter] key. Text to input:sadmin eu

(14) Enter the password that you set (red part), and hit the return key.
Password: McAfee password(e.g. c9.0) [BG]

(15) Click in the top right corner of the McAfee Solidifier command line (DOS prompt) screen to
close the window.
(16) The screen below appears. Enter “sysmex” in the [Login Name] field and Enter “c9.0” in the
[Password] field, and then press the [login] button.

(17) Press the [Finish] button below.

(18) The instrument automatically restarts. Wait while the instrument automatically shuts down.

7.5 Prime reagent [BM]
(1) Execute the water adding sequence (about 30 minutes).
(2) In the menu screen, press "Service"
→ "Service/Factory Tools"
→ "Setup/Shipping"
→ "Setting Sequence".

(3) Dispense 2 mL of ethanol into the RBC chamber.

(4) Press "Execute" in the Setting Sequence screen.

7.6 Reagent Registration
Registering the diluents and hemolyzing agents
(1) Press the button on the left side of the front to start the IPU.

(2) Press [Manual]. The keyboard screen appears.

(3) Enter “sysmex” in the [Logon Name] field and enter service login password in [Password] field,
then press [OK]. [BG]

(4) Press [Logon].

(5) When the screen appears, select as indicated below.


▪ Error "Not ignore"

with the hand-held barcode reader.

▪ Repeat this procedure to read in all the remaining diluents and hemolytic agents.

agents show " " and press "Execute".

7.7 Blank check
Run automatic washing, and perform blank check.

WBC-C: 1.0×10 ^ 2/μL or less
WBC-D: 1.0×10 ^ 2/μL or less
RBC: 2×10^4/μL or less
HGB: 0.1g/dL or less
PLT-I: 1.0×10 ^ 4/μL or less
PLT-O: 1.0×10 ^ 4/μL or less

7.8 Various adjustments


When installing the instrument, perform the adjustments below. For details, refer to the "Adjustment"
chapter.

7.9 Final Operation Check


Run the instrumen and check that no error are displayed.

7.10 Connecting with RU-20 [AJ]
(1) Remove Wiring Cord No. 3497.

(2) Connect Main connector on RU-20 rear panel (item 11 in figure below) and RU Supply Tank
connector on XN-L rear panel (item 13 in figure below) with Wiring Cord 8471.
Use either of following cord according to the installation situation.

(3) Connect supply tank nipple on supply tank rear panel (item 1 in figure below) and DCL nipple on
XN-L rear panel (item 8 in figure below) with polyurethane tube 6X4.
