Column 02 Takedowns

1) The document calculates load takedown for various structural components of a building, including the roof, slabs, beams, walls, columns, and stub column. 2) It provides dimensions, material properties, and code standards to calculate the dead and live loads for each component based on area, thickness, unit weight, and load factors. 3) The total calculated loads are summarized on a grid including dead loads of 232.72 kN and live loads of 92.51 kN, for a total unfactored load of 325.23 kN. Ultimate limit state factors are applied to get factored loads.

Load Takedown Calculations

First up we have to take into account the roof loads

1) ROOF
a) Dead Load

Provide Dimensions of tributary area Roof Pitch = 30

Length 1 = 5.625 m Length 2 = 2.25 m

or Just Area straight away

Area = 12.65625 sqm (This is length x width)

Provide the dead load factor for the type of roof and state the code

Factor = 1 kN/m2 Code of practice and location =

Thus the dead load component due to the roof is = 1 X

= 14.61418 kN

b) Live Load
All the same data input as above applies in this section so

Provide the live load factor for the type of roof and state the code

Factor = 2 Kn/m2 Code of practice and location =

Thus the live load component due to the roof is = 2 X

= 29.22836 kN

Next up we have to take into account the slab loads

2) Slab
a) Dead Load

Provide Dimensions of tributary area Slab Thickness = 0.25

Length 1 = 5.625 m Length 2 = 2.25 m

or Just Area straight away

Area = 12.65625 sqm (This is length x width)

Provide the unit weight of concrete in this component

Gamma = 24 kN/m3 Code of practice and location =

Thus the dead load component due to the roof is = 24 X

= 91.125 kN

b) Live Load
All the same data input as above applies in this section so

Provide the live load factor for the type of floor area usage and state the code

Factor = 5 Kn/m2 Code of practice and location =

Thus the live load component due to the roof is = 5 X

= 63.28125 kN

c) Load Bearing Walls on slabs

Provide the Length and height of these walls Unit Weight of the Bricks
Width of wall , Default 230 m
Length = 0 metres (provide the length to the next support in metres)
Height = 0 metres (provide the length to the next support in metres)

Load distributed to the floors

= 0 X 0 X 0.23
= 0 kN

Next up we have to take into account the beam loads

3) Beams
a) Dead Load

Provide Dimensions of tributary area Beam Depth 0.1

LENGTH = 5.625 metres (provide the length to the next support in metres)
WIDTH = 2.25 metres (provide the length to the next support in metres)

or Just total length straight away

= 7.875 metres

Provide the unit weight of concrete in this component

Gamma = 24 kN/m3 Code of practice and location =

Thus the dead load component due to the roof is = 24 X

= 5.67 kN

b) Load Bearing Walls on beams

Provide the Length and height of these walls Unit Weight of the Bricks
Width of wall , Default 230 m
Length = 5.625 metres (provide the length to the next support in metres)
Height = 3 metres (provide the length to the next support in metres)

Load distributed to the floors

= 3 X 5.625 X 0.23
= 89.26875 kN

Next up we have to take into account the column loads

4) Columns Type Rectangle

a) Dead Load

Provide Dimensions of tributary area Section Depth = 0.5

or provide section diameter

Height of the column is =

Unequal individual Columns = 3
or Thus average or just the Equal Height = 3 metres

Provide the unit weight of concrete in this component = 24 kN/m3

Thus the total Load is = 24 X 3 X 0.1150

= 8.28 kN

Next up we have to take into account the stub of the column just before the base
5) Stub Column Type Rectangle
a) Dead Load

Provide Dimensions of tributary area Section Depth = 0.5

or provide section diameter

Height of the column is = 1.5 metres

Provide the unit weight of concrete in this component = 24 kN/m3

Thus the total Load is = 24 X 1.5 X 0.1150
= 4.14 kN
Degrees Reduction factor = 1.155
(provide the length to the next support in metres)
(provide the length to the next support in metres)

Unit Weight of the Bricks = 23 kN/m3

Width of wall , Default 230 mm = 0.23

X 23

metres Beam Width = 0.300 metres

Thus Area of Beam Section is = 0.0300 sqm

BS
7.875 X 0.030 Unit weight by the area by the thickness

Unit Weight of the Bricks = 23 kN/m3

Width of wall , Default 230 mm = 0.23

Circle Rectangle

Section Width = 0.230 metres

de section diameter = 0.46 which gives 0.16619 sqm

Thus Area of Column Section is = 0.1150 sqm

Circle Rectangle

Section Width = 0.230 metres

de section diameter = 0.46 which gives 0.16619

Thus Area of Column Section is = 0.1150 sqm

Thus required area under SLS = Force/Pressure

thus assuming a square base each side is = 0.658511 X 0.65851
