    Please join us in congratulating Gottfried Bogensperger on his selection as Area Vice President and General Manager
    of Grand Hyatt Bali as of December 23 2023

    Gottfried grew up in Mariapfarr, a picturesque village in Salzburg state, Austria. “I had always enjoyed cooking with
    my mother and decided that a career in gastronomy was something I wanted to pursue."

    Gottfried commenced his hospitality career in 1979 as a Kitchen Trainee at K&K Stiegl Bräu in Salzburg Over the
    subsequent seven years, he gained valuable culinary experience at hotels across Austria and Switzerland He also
    attained Culinary Studies and Hotel Administration diplomas from the Chamber of Commerce in Austria.

    In 1986 Gottfried joined the Hyatt family as Chef de Cuisine at Hyatt Cancún Caribe Villas Resort in Mexico (now
    Grand Park Royal Cancún) In the next 18 years, he rose through senior culinary ranks at Hyatt Cancún Caribe Villas
    Resort, Grand Hyatt Singapore, Hyatt Regency Johor Bahru, and Grand Hyatt Seoul.

    Gottfried became General Manager for the first time at Hyatt Hotel Casino Manila in 2004 moving in the same role
    to Hyatt on the Bund Shanghai in 2009 Since 2017 he has been Area Vice President and General Manager of Grand
    Hyatt Manila.

    “One of my main objectives is to assist and develop our associates, utilizing the knowledge I’ve gained to foster the
    growth of new leaders,” says Gottfried of his new role ..“ in turn, will allow us to continue to deliver innovative
    offerings and unforgettable experiences for our cherished guests and customers."

    Gottfried is married to Leng, who is originally from Singapore. They have a 23 year old daughter, Li Ann, who works
    in finance in New York ..“I would not be where I am today without the unwavering support of my loving wife and
    daughter Their nurturing presence has allowed me to pursue my dreams and realize my potential.

    How would you describe yourself? Optimistic, persistent and adaptable.

    What are your driving passions? Outside of work, I enjoy scuba diving, horseback riding, golfing, skiing and
    swimming.
    What is the highlight of your career at Hyatt thus far? Winning the prestigious Jay A. Pritzker Leadership Award
    in 2013.

    Of what achievements are you proud? Successfully opening new hotels and playing a part in developing
    promising new leaders who have shown potential. I take immense pride in building agile teams capable of navigating
    challenges.

    What is your motto? Happiness is a state of mind. With the right mindset, we can achieve anything we set our hearts
    and minds to.

    What do few people know about you? An iconic movie star and former California Governor stayed at Hyatt on the
    Bund Shanghai while I was GM. He was craving kaiserschmarren Austrian fluffy, shredded pancakes so I happily
    rolled my sleeves up and put my past Chef’s training to good use.
