Do not read the Quran----this Ramadan----read ABOUT the Quran

This Ramadan, make it a different one

Assalam Alaikum w r a

Make this Ramadan a different one; different from all the previous Ramadans you have
passed through. How many Ramadan you have passed till now—in your conscious life
period, excluding childhood and boyhood—roughly 10-15? What you did in each of it, any
memorable work, which you may recall with certitude? Just introspect. Yes, you did, you will
say, ‚ I read the Quran each Ramadan, attended the Taraweeh‛. Nothing more. You read,
conventional reading, conventional because you read from here and there, sometimes from
this surah, sometimes some passage from another. I call this ‚aimless‛ reading. Some of you
may say, ‚On such and such Ramadan, I ventured to read the whole Quran, ‘Khatam
Quran’—cover to cover‛. This was your highest achievement!

I am not degrading your efforts—but this is what horde of people do—reading and reading
the Quran—all the month---a ritual, performed! They READ the Quran, they do not STUDY
the Quran; you understand the difference between ‘reading’ and ‘studying’. They read to
earn ‘swab’ ---as the month ends, they accumulate much of it and most contented with it
they close the Book and keep it high on the shelf ---till the next year!

This is what the mainstream Muslims do----here, I do not address them. I like to see you,
different from them---you, the well-educated conscious, awakened youth—my address is to
you!

DO NOT READ THE QURAN, this Ramadan, READ ABOUT THE QURAN

What do you know about the Quran? Very little.

 Basic knowledge of it, basic structure, ayaats, the number of verses, markings,
notations, rukus, manzils, were they at the Prophet’s time, when these were
introduced and who were they who did all these labor?
 History of the compilation of the Quran, when who and why they made the changes
in the Quran—changes?!—
 Yes ---this may be baffling you! Try to know what types of changes took place—and
what types of changes are taking place in this age of time?
 If a ‘sahabi’ comes to this age of time, will he be able to read the present Quran, in
what ways it differs from that—and if it differs, how you can say authentically that
this Quran in your hand today is the same which the Rasool(pbh) handed over to you?

 Why Usman (ra) burned the manuscripts (which?) of the Quran---where are now the
original and which form of The Usmanic Codex is there in Topkapi Museum and In
2

St Petersberg? What are Sana manuscripts, why the detractors of the Quran are
making hue and cry about it?
 Style and presentation of the Quran—why there are no paragraphs, why and when
the address of it changes –sometimes abruptly---why getting through it one feels
reading a ‘dry’ book, unattractive and sometimes even repulsive—so much so that
one just wonders whether this is the book some claim it moves the hearts--!!
 Is it the same book whose only a few verses made the visiting Christians from Najran
weep, at the time of the Prophet—and even, now, it makes this magic, there are so
many instances.
 What you know about it concerned to modern Cosmology, Embryology, Theory of
Evolution and many other branches of the Science.
 Does it claim to lead the world in Politics, Economics, and modern Legal systems
 Why the Quran is believed to be a divine book? Assess yourself; if this question is
put to you by your non-Muslim friend, can you answer? Are you yourself convinced
about it?
 What do you know about the Copies of the Quran which are prevalent in all North
African countries –how are they different from those with which you are acquainted
--- interestingly all published by the same publishing house, King Fahad Printing
Complex, Madinah.
 What you know about ‚Warsh: and ‚Hafs: Quran ??

Ah! there are many mind-blowing questions –which some of you face or which your
children will face in the coming days of the changing face of the Internet---and you
will feel helpless---you will face the questioner just dumbfounded ---because your
knowledge about the Quran is minimal---because you are bent on only ‘reading’—
just ‘reading’ it---uttering some Arabic Words!
You do not have an eagerness to KNOW about it because you don’t NEED
GUIDANCE from it ---what you need, SWAB, that you get it, no doubt!

 There are many aspects and facts about the Quran and about the person who
handed it over to you which you were never told by the ‘conventional ulema’, nor,
you ever sought to know these yourselves.
 Not knowing about this Book as to ‚WHAT THE QURAN WANTS FROM YOU ?‛,
is one of the reasons which has made it a ‘lifeless book’ for you. Till the time it was
‘lively’—it guided you; now it serves to ‘distribute’ a few ‘nekees’ ---each year !!

 —If my CALL awakens you and you decide earnestly to act differently this
Ramadan and ask, ‚Well, Sir, what should I do, wherefrom to get all these ?‛
Writing the above message was easy for me but to suggest the sources where you can
get the knowledge about the Quran is difficult. I have gathered much of it all
through the time I spent in writing my books; I have about 23 folders specifically on
the Quran and 11 folders on the Prophet, each containing 80 to 100 files—total about
2 GB –I am worried, how I may share these to you. In any case, other than this
3

present message, I wish to share with you a large number of folders on different
branches of learning of Islam, The Quran, The Prophet, Science, Arabic Learning,
etc. total about 100 GB –I have given these to my son, Tasin ([email protected]) in a
separate hard disc—I wish you take these and pass these on to anyone who is
inclined to research these subjects. I often think these will be lost if I don’t share with
others before I die.
The time is short, the Ramadan is to start in a day or two, for the time being, my
book, “ Introducing the Quran to non-Muslims‛, which, most probably, have
with you, will suffice. If you don’t have it call amazon for it they deliver within 3-5
days:

LAST SPECIFIC NOTE:

 Please don’t waste time on WhatsApp during the Ramadan, if you can’t abstain from
it fully (as you have become addicted to it, alas!) engage minimum possible time on it
( Allah is all the time watching you!).
 Specify how much time you can allocate daily for this work. TARGET & ROUTINE
and CONTINUANCE of the work, however small, are necessary steps.
 Till the time you get my book, read this
http://www.islamicbulletin.org/free_downloads/quran/ul_umal_quran.pdf by a new
Muslim German scholar Ahmad von Denfer, and
 https://archive.org/details/IntroductionToSciencesOfTheQuran/page/n5 by Yasir
Qadhi, an American Muslim scholar
 https://www.islamicity.org/quransearch/?AspxautodetectCookieSupport=1
 I entreat you to Pray for me that I may continue imparting whatever I know, to you
up to the end of my life. Aameen.
If your response comes and I will assess that a substantial number of you are ready
to ACT DIFFERENTLY, it will be most pleasing for me.

To know what lies in these books, please have a glimpse over the introductory
words, In sha Allah, this may arouse in you the eagerness to delve into these books:

A brief synopsis of some chapters

Scientific descriptions in the Quran are just ‘amazing’ to common readers. It seems unbelievable to
them that there are statements and words mentioned in the Quran which indicate scientific truths
discovered only in recent times. The author of this introductory book being a teacher of Mechanical
engineering has been in touch with various fields of Science including Life sciences and is well aware
of recent trends in different fields of sciences. At the same time, he has been a student of the Quran
for a long time with a searching eye on such words and statements indicating some aspects of
science.

Chapters 1 through 6 (Scientific descriptions in the Quran, What we observe in the universe?,
What the Quran says about Theory of Evolution?, The Quran on Cosmology, The Quran appeals to
man’s logic and intellect, The Quran an Amazing Book) are those which will surely attract those
readers who have even a slight interest in science.

The chapters, “Quran on War, Fighting, Persecution and Jihad” and “The Quran on Man-Woman
relationship” are a deep study of the concept and relevance of jihad and what in the Islamic
parlance a woman is assumed to be. The article dismisses the Woman’s existing confusion of her
liberty vis-à-vis the feminist movement. In the article, “The Practicality of the Quran”, the author
emphatically talks of the up righteousness and eradication of evil in the individual so that holistic life
turns beneficial to all alike. Detailing is the merit of this book and precision is its soul. The author
discusses pointedly on issues of common nature including what the Quran says on Islamic law,
fornication, bribery, marriage, and divorce, alcoholism and other legal and corrupt practices.

The chapter, “Why the Muslims are lagging behind” naturally pinches a curious reader. The author
raises the question of why the Quran that is believed to be a book of enlightenment that shook
Arabia and made it conquer half of the World of its time, is not reflecting its shine and glory through
the behavior and lifestyle of present-day Muslims. This chapter convincingly answers all doubts, as
the author pinpoints out that a huge difference lies between the religion explained and the religion
practiced.

The chapter, “How to Study the Quran: a guide to a person quite new to it” is an endeavor on its
part to guide the reader in matters of Quranic study. The author’s exclusive approach to the Quran is
that one cannot gain the best of it if one divorces oneself from understanding the Prophet. The
chapter on “Structure and Style of the Quran” is complex but it is explained lucidly. Another chapter
that deems special mention here is “Preservation and Authenticity of the Quran”. To explain this
topic the author raises an interesting hypothetical question: “if a companion of the Prophet happens
to come today, will he be able to read the present day-Quran? and answers that he won’t- but why?
It is eye-opening historiography of the Quran and it presents convincing proof that the text of the
Quran in our hands today is the same as the one, handed over by the Prophet to us although there
has been a change in the script, this chapter is indeed worth serious perusal.

The presentation of the whole book is, as if the author is engaged in direct talk with the
reader, he raises a question from the side of the reader and replies it, conforming all rules of
logic. Coming to the science of Logic a full chapter “the Quran appeals to man’s logic and
intelligence” is devoted to this topic. This is a very interesting chapter and people of all
segments will find it a bit “awakening” as to why one believes in something? Reading this
chapter a common man who is overwhelmed by Science realizes that there is a limit beyond
which Science is helpless—it cannot solve the riddle of “why”; a very interesting discussion
indeed.
