 Contemporary Art- It is an art that provides an opportunity to reflect on today’s social issues
relevant to humanity, and the world around us.

 Figurative- These are the paintings of outdoor scenes. Most of the favorite subjects in this type of
painting are skies, mountains, river and even infrastructure like buildings, houses and many
more that we usually see in our surroundings.
 Assembling- It is the easiest yet very creative technique in sculpture where in different materials
(found, recycled, indigenous etc.) gather to form an artwork.
 Photography is an example of Contemporary Visual Arts
 Music- In ancient times, ancestors did this for their gods and goddesses. It is a performing art
that involves body movement in accord to the musical beat, for some use it as an expression of
thoughts and feelings, releasing energy or simply joining with the beat of music or into dance
movement itself.
 Music for national identity- These are songs that celebrate or depict our struggles, hopes, and
aspirations toward a Filipino identity and sense of nationhood.
 Theme- An element of dance that conveys the message of a dance.
 Choreography- This is an element of dance that refers to the figures and steps in dancing that
enable the dancers to perform in an organized manner.
 Geometric- A visual style that is characterized by heavy use of straight lines and shapes.
 Director- an element of dramatic theatrical performance refers to a person who supervises the
actors, camera crew and other staff for a movie, play, television program or similar production.
 Abstract- a kind of visual design that creates a piece of art that is independent from the way it
looks in the real world.
 Architecture- The art and science of designing buildings and (some) nonbuilding structures. It is
also the style of design and method of construction of buildings and other physical structures.
 Painting- The practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a solid surface (called
the "matrix" or "support").
 Sculpture- An artistic form in which hard or plastic materials are worked into three-dimensional
art objects.
 Performing arts- It refers to forms of art in which artists use their voices, bodies, or inanimate
objects to convey artistic expression.
 The National Art Center of the Philippine by Leandro Locsin is an example of Architecture.
 Samaon Sulaiman- He introduced the reversed consonance rime scheme, including the comma
poems that made full use of the punctuation mark in an innovative, poetic way.

community for her unique designs, straightness of her edging (tabig), and fineness of her sasa and
kima-kima.
 Lang Dulay- T’boli traditional weaver of tinalak, cloth made of colorful abaca fabrics.
 Samaon Sulaiman- Maguindanaoan, acclaimed kutyapi master and teacher of this instrument
and is also proficient in kulintang, agong, gandingan, palendag, and tambul.
 Drama- This includes acting, directing, stage setting, stage lighting and public speaking.
 Performance- It evolved to “emphasize spontaneous elements of chance”– Walker Art Center.

 It depicts the way of life- a distinguishable element of Filipino arts.
 Festival- art forms that is commonly celebrated during fiesta, bountiful harvest or town
commemoration.
 Francisca Reyes-Aquino- the acclaimed national artist that conducted a study on local forms of
celebration and rituals.
 Analyze beyond visuals- the ideal way of interpreting or analyzing artwork or masterpiece.
 Monochromatic- the art trend in Contemporary Filipino artists which predominantly exhibits
colorful masterpieces evidently uses indigenous materials and intricately designed to achieve
desired motif.
 Self-Expression- The Filipino character portrayed by who Kee Sang Pao loves to post her best
drawing and painting on facebook and Instagram.
 Art evaluator assesses artwork beyond visuals. Why do they follow the principles of
