Rille

[email protected]
octobernovember.com

Thank you so much for the purchase! Included in the ZIP folder is the main Rille PSD file (which contains
all of the individual paper sizes, shadow overlays, and plant overlays) as well as a folder containing 16
pre-made scenes that you can work with (please note that unused objects were removed from the pre-
made scenes to keep the file sizes to a minimum, although objects can be copy/pasted from the main
Rille PSD back into the pre-made scenes). Below are some instructions and tips for working with the
mockups!

Inserting Your Designs

1. Within the layers panel, navigate to the paper size group you’d like to insert your design into, then
toggle open the “Your designs” group and double-click the thumbnail of the print effect you’d like to
work with (you can choose from Standard ink, Emboss, Deboss, or Gold foil)

2. Paste any design with a transparent background into the document that opens (by copy/pasting from
your desktop, or using File > Place embedded), resize to fit within the document as desired, and then
save + close the file. Your design will now be applied to the mockup!

Note – each print effect layer contains its own smart object document, which allows you to combine the
various print effects. This also means you’ll need to insert your designs into each print effect’s smart
object document separately (i.e., if you only insert your design into the “Gold foil” layer and then want to
test out the design using the “Emboss” effect, you’ll need to also insert your design into the “Emboss”
layer’s smart object document).

Each of these smart object documents contains a “Placeholder” layer, which can be toggled on to use as
a reference for sizing and placing your designs. This is especially useful for the arched paper and
envelope objects.
Adjusting Print Effects

To increase the intensity of the “Emboss” and “Deboss” effects, you can duplicate these layers using the
keyboard shortcut ⌘+J and then adjust their opacity as you see fit.

You can also adjust the placement of the light reflection on the “Gold foil” layer, by right-clicking the
layer, selecting “Blending Options…”, clicking the “Gradient Overlay” section, and then dragging your
cursor around the canvas to reposition the reflection.

Adjusting Paper Options

The various paper size groups contain layers that can be adjusted to customize the look of the paper.

The Texture layer adds a subtle texture to the paper, and its opacity can be adjusted to control its
intensity.

The Thickness layer adds depth to the paper, and its opacity can be adjusted as you see fit.

The Paper color layer controls the color of the paper. To change the color, you can double-click the
layer’s thumbnail to select a new color using the color picker.

The Paper reflection group adds a subtle, glowing reflection to the underside of the paper, and is best-
suited for layouts featuring light-colored backgrounds (this layer can be toggled off when working with
darker backgrounds).

Shadows – The “Shadow – floating” and “Shadow – flat” groups can be toggled on/off, and the opacity
and fill percentage of the shadow layers within these groups can be adjusted to control their intensity.

Arranging Paper

The various paper objects can be moved around the canvas by selecting a paper size group, ensuring
the Move tool is selected from the tools panel (and Auto-Select is toggled off in the top toolbar), and
dragging the paper around the canvas. To scale or rotate a paper object, select its group, go to Edit >
Free Transform, ensure that “Maintain aspect ratio” (the chainlink icon) is enabled in the top toolbar, and
then scale/rotate the paper using the anchors at its corners.

Duplicating Paper

If you’d like to work with multiple copies of the same paper size, you can create a copy of it by selecting
its group from the layers panel, copying it using the keyboard shortcut ⌘+C, and pasting it using ⌘+V.

Note – copying and pasting the group (rather than using the “Duplicate group” feature) will create a new
set of smart object print effect layers, allowing you to insert different designs into each paper size group.

Changing Background Color

Within the Background group, you can double-click the “Background color” layer’s thumbnail to select
your own color using the color picker. You can also toggle on/off and adjust the opacity of the various
texture layers located within the “Paper texture” group.

Adjusting Shadow and Plant Overlays

The “Shadows” group contains 5 separate shadow overlay options that can be toggled on and off. You
can also toggle on/off the “Shadow tint color” to add a subtle tint to the shadow overlays.

The “Plants” group contains 5 blurred plant overlays that can be toggled on and off, and move around
the canvas using the Move tool.
