AN IMPACT OF MICRO FINANCE ON DEVELOPMENT OF

SOCIAL AND WOMEN ENTREPRENEUERSHIP WITH


REFERENCE TO BANDAN BANK

INTRODUCTION

Microfinance is defined as any activity that includes the provision of financial


services such as credit, savings, and insurance to low income individuals which fall
just above the nationally defined poverty line, and poor individuals which fall
below that poverty line, with the goal of creating social value. The creation of social
value includes poverty alleviation and the broader impact of improving livelihood
opportunities through the provision of capital for micro enterprise, and insurance
and savings for risk mitigation and consumption smoothing. A large variety of
sectors provide microfinance in India, using arrange of microfinance delivery
methods.
Mr. Chandra Shekhar Ghosh founded the Bandhan Bank Microfinance in the 1990s
in order to provide loans to the marginal business owners, who have not got loan
from traditional money lenders such as banks with low interest. Within a decade
and a half, it is transformed into universal bank.
The concept of women empowerment was introduced in 1985 at the UNs third
World Women’s Conference. Economic empowerment of women helps women to
take their own decisions towards investment on health and education and take risks
to increase income level, savings, and employment days
.The range of activities undertaken in microfinance include group lending,
individual lending, the of savings and
insurance, capacity building , and agricultural business development services.
Whatever the form of activity however, the overarching goal that unifies all actors

in the provision of microfinance is the creation of social value.
SCOPE OF THE STUDY

1. To study the impact of micro finance in empowering the social economic status
of women and developing of social entrepreneurship.

2. To know about relationship between SHG’s members, micro finance banks and
entrepreneur’s women.

3. To clarify the limitation of microfinance programmes as the tool for women’s


Empowerment and the type of support service necessary to maximize the
contribution of microfinance service.

4. To study potential hurdles in the development of women entrepreneurship.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY


 To find out the need of microfinance by poor different types of micro
financial products available to the poor their supply and demand.
 To know the need of poor as well as to find out where they are lagging in
fulfilling their need and how to overcome this.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

 Primary data:
Questionnaire: Questionnaire method is one of the common methods where a
questionnaire is submitted across people and they are asked to fill it with his /her
opinions. The questionnaire consists of both open ended and closed type of
questions.
 Secondary data collection: The study is purely theoretical; no primary
data collection was required for the project. All the data collected for the
study was based on different sources, like company reports, websites,
details provided by the guide, case studies related to financial inclusion,
RBI guidelines, bank reports and initiatives etc
Questionnaire design :
Questionnaire is form of MCQs with Single choice answers. Through Questionnaire,
I have collected my primary data among 50 women who shows their interest in micro
loans
Sampling procedures:
Non-Probability, Convenience Sampling. Convenience sampling is a non-probability
sampling method where units are selected for inclusion in the sample

Pilot survey is was conducted with 50 respondents before the administration of the
final questionnaire in the field. The questionnaire
i was made following changes
mention below. The pilot survey playsv an important role as if fully whether the
questionnaire is suitable for extracting the necessary information from the
respondent.
Period of study : From December 2023 to March 2024

Limitations of the Study:


 The study holds good only for the time period the project was undertaken.
 The data recorded is presumed to be authentic and information collected
mainly from secondary sources.
 Lack of comprehensive data about the future plans.
 Lack of information which is confidential in nature prevented an in-depth
study of the positive and negative effects of microfinance.
