CLOUD COMPUTING & VIRTUALIZATION (CCV)

Unit-1: Overview of Computing Paradigm: [8 Hrs]

Recent trends in Computing: Serial Computing, Parallel Computing, Distributed computing and
it’s types (Client-server architecture, N-tier architecture, Peer to Peer Computing), Grid
computing, Cluster computing and it’s types, Utility computing, Cloud computing, Edge
Computing, Fog Computing.

Unit-2: Introduction to Cloud Computing [8 Hrs]

Introduction to Cloud Computing, Need of Cloud Computing, Cloud Computing Terminologies,


Cloud Computing Technologies, Cloud Computing NIST Model, Essential Characteristics of
Cloud Computing, Service (Delivery) Model- Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a
Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), Everything as a Service (XaaS), Deployment
Model- Public, Private, Community and Hybrid Cloud, Architecture of Cloud Computing,
Working of Cloud Computing, Cloud Service Providers (CSPs).

Unit-3: Virtualization Concepts [8 Hrs]

Introduction to virtualization, Need of virtualization, Virtual Machine Monitor (VMM)/


Hypervisor and it’s types, Virtualization benefits.
Types of Virtualization- Server Virtualization and it’s types (Full, Para, OS level Virtualization),
Storage Virtualization and it’s types, Application Virtualization, Desktop virtualization and it’s
types, Data Virtualization, Network Virtualization, Memory Virtualization, Data Center
Virtualization

Unit-4: Virtual network & Cloud security [8 Hrs]

Cloud Network: Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Networks, Subnetworks, IP addresses, Routes,
Firewall rules, subnetworks for resource management instead of physical network topology
Cloud Security: Security Planning, Understanding Security of Cloud, Key Points to CSA Model,
Understanding Data Security, Shared Responsibility model, Cloud Security Principles, Data
privacy and security Issues, Cloud Identity Access Management (IAM), Organizations, Roles,
Members, Service accounts, Cloud IAM best practices, Authentication in cloud computing, Client
access in cloud, Cloud security challenges.

Unit-5: Cloud Resource Management and Overview of Big Data [8 Hrs]

Cloud resources, resource provisioning, resource scheduling, and resource monitoring, Load
balancing, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Cloud contracting Model, Pricing, Billing &
Accounting, Auditing & Compliances, Container, Dockers, Open Stack architectural overview,
Big Data, Hadoop Framework- MapReduce, Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), YARN
