Introductory Message

For the facilitator:

Welcome to the Electrical Installation and Maintenance Grade 9 Module on Parts of

Electrical Wiring Plan.

This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators from
Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its Officer-In-Charge Schools Division
Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A. Agustin in partnership with the Local
Government of Pasig through its mayor, Honorable Vico Sotto.
The writers utilized the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum using the Most
Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) while overcoming their personal, social,
and economic constraints in schooling.

This learning material hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking and Character while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

In addition to the material in the main text, you will also see this box in the body of
the module:

Notes to the Teacher

This contains helpful tips or strategies that
will help you in guiding the learners.

As a facilitator you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this module.
You also need to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to manage
their own learning. Moreover, you are expected to encourage and assist the learners
as they do the tasks included in the module.
For the learner:

Welcome to the Electrical Installation and Maintenance 9 Module on Parts of

Electrical Wiring Plan. The hand is one of the most symbolized part of the human
body. It is often used to depict skill, action and purpose. Through our hands we may
learn, create and accomplish. Hence, the hand in this learning resource signifies that
you as a learner is capable and empowered to successfully achieve the relevant
competencies and skills at your own pace and time. Your academic success lies in
your own hands!

This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful opportunities for
guided and independent learning at your own pace and time. You will be enabled to
process the contents of the learning material while being an active learner.

This module has the following parts and corresponding icons:

Expectation - These are what you will be able to know after completing the
lessons in the module

RECAP

In the preceding lesson we have discussed the general requirements for

electrical installation, Mention one of the requirement and describe it briefly.
LESSON

Electrical Wiring Plan

This is a proposed electrical plan to be installed for a house, building or other
related structure. This is a technical representation for the electrical methods to be
applied, the supplies and materials to be used, the comprehensive computation of
loads, determining the safe size of wires, conduit and circuit breaker.
Parts of Electrical Wiring Plan

1. Title Block or Name Plate

This is located at the bottom portion of an Electrical Wiring Plan that shows
the following details:
A. The name of the company contracted for the project
B. Proposed installation or project;
C. Name, signature and address of the owner;
D. Name, signature and dry seal of Professional Electrical Engineer (PEE)
or Registered Master Electrician (RME) commissioned by the owner for
the project;
E. Title of sheet, sheet number and scale which the floor plan is drawn;
and
F. Draftsman’s initial and dates when the electrical wiring plan was
drawn.

2. Floor Plan
It is the sketch that shows the top view of the house, building or other
related structure. It shows the electrical layout plan where the lighting and
power outlets are located. This indicates the following details:
A. position, kind and rating of lighting fixtures;
B. position of switches and the lighting fixtures it controls;
C. position, kind and rating of power outlets and special purpose outlet;
and
D. the branch circuit which the lighting fixtures or power outlets are
connected to.
3. Schedule of Loads
This shows the comprehensive computation of lighting and appliance loads
and determine the following details:
A. quantity of lighting outlets and switches connected in a branch circuit;
B. quantity of power outlets and special purpose outlet connected in a
branch circuit;
C. computation of total current, total wattage per branch circuit; and
D. determine the size of conductor and conduit to use per branch circuit.

4. Riser Diagram
This shows a line diagram of the main disconnecting means, electric service
meter and service entrance; and details following:
A. type of service entrance and electric service metering;
B. type, size and number of conductor and conduit of service entrance;
C. type and rating of the main disconnecting means and branch circuit;
and
D. panel board size, ampere frame and the arrangement of circuit breakers.
5. Specifications
This shows the guidelines that the electrician’s must follow in performing
electrical work and details the following:
A. types and method of wiring installations to be implemented;
B. types and rating of electrical supplies and materials to be used;
C. types and rating of conductor and conduit in branch circuit and service
entrance; and
D. notes and reminder of the PEE/RME to the electrical installer.

6. Legends
All of the electrical symbols
shown in the floor plan and
riser diagram are interpreted
in the Legend. Electrical
symbols allows the Electrical
Engineers, Electricians and
owner to interpret the
electrical installations,
equipment, fixtures and
electrical connections made.

7. Location or Site Map

This show the location of
the electrical project and
gives the following details:
A. Indicate the
landmarks, popular
structure, bordering
areas and well known
streets; and
B. Electrical power
company service pole
which supplies
electric energy.
ACTIVITIES

ACTIVITY 2.1
Directions: Prepare a Drawing Sheet (7pcs). This will be use in our next activities.

1. Prepare your drawing tools and materials: 1 pc. Short bond paper, ruler
(1/16”) and pencil # 2.
2. Draw your boarder line.
3. Draw your name plate.
Understand the following:
• Boarder Line is serving as frame of the drawing
• Name Plate is where drawing information is been held.
• Guidelines is use to ensure that all letters is aligned to each other and
done lightly as possible because it is erase eventually.
a) Size of guidelines for title is 3/16”
b) Size of guidelines for title is 1/8”
4. Flat where you put the name of label parts then right the word name in
capital letters after making guidelines.
