Hello, boys and girls! You will study the art of drawing in
this lesson. You love to draw, don’t you? To be able to draw
you need to learn the following topics:

2. Create a drawing based on imaginary adventure;
3. Draw any image using the different kinds of lines without lifting the pencil;

EXPLORE

Can you imagine how it would be if there were no pictures in


books or magazines? Would the books be good to look at? Would
you enjoy reading?
Do you wonder how artist have made drawings or paintings?
Do you think they drew only the things they knew and loved?
There are always new kinds of colors and shapes to explore.
Artists can be like explorers. What do you like in drawing? What
kind of pictures do you like to draw? Try to draw an objects as you
see it. Try to draw in your own
special way.

 Think of a place where you want to go (a distant land, some-
where you’ve been before or a new place?)
 Think how will you go there. Is it by a plane, car, train, motor-
cycle or yacht?
 Who will you see when you arrive? (a friend? a family mem-
ber? a creature?)

What is Art?

Art is an expression of human feelings or ideas. Artists think out a design.


Then they select their materials, colors and shapes and arrange them
according to their design.

Where can you find works


of art?

Art is all around. Many people create them. Look at the things around you.
They have shapes and colors. People made them they are all works of
art.

How do artists create the

Drawing is making a picture of anything, like a picture


of pupils on a piece of paper. You may use pencil,
crayon, or pen when you draw.

ELEMENTS OF ART
The basic elements of art are lines, colors, and textures. They
are used when an artist makes drawing. An artist needs to learn the prop-
er application of these elements in order to make a good drawing or illus-
tration.

WHAT ARE LINES?


Lines are like moving dots. Lines have many uses in creating art-
works.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF LINES?

There are lines that move up


and down. These lines are called
vertical lines.

There are lines that move


from left to right. These are called
horizontal lines.

There are lines that are slant.


These are called diagonal lines.

COLORS
WHAT IS COLOR
Color in art can suggest feelings. Colors are exciting in
many ways. Did you ever think how different colors make you
feel?

When you look at red, do you feel war or cold? Do you feel
happy or sad? Do you feel excited or do you feel sleepy?

RED

When you look at blue, how do you feel?

BLUE

How do you feel when you look at yellow?

YELLOW

You will find that different colors can make a painting seem
peaceful, lonely, angry or happy.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF COLORS?

The three basic colors in arts are red, yellow, and blue.
These are called primary colors.
If you will combine two of these primary colors, another
color would come from them. The result is called a secondary
color. The result is called secondary color.

SECONDARY COLORS– Green, orange and purple or violet are


secondary colors. They are the result of the combination of two
primary colors.

WHAT IS TEXTURE?

It is something you feel as smooth or rough. In art, it can be created through


the use of colors and lines.

ACTIVITY 4: DIFFERENTIATED ACTIVITIES

Choose one activity below.

YOU ARE AN ARTIST


Draw a picture of your family and express your love to your family
on that drawing. Be creative! Use different drawing materials like cray-
ons, pencils, a piece of charcoal, and available materials like leaves and
flowers to decorate your drawing.

YOU ARE A STORYTELLER


Get a drawing of your family that you own. It might be a drawing of
your grandparents, parents, or older brothers and sisters. Share stories re-
garding that drawing through video presentation. Send it to your teacher
on his social media account.

YOU ARE AN ART CRITIC


An art critic is an expert who can tell the good part and the weak
part of a work of art. Bring an old drawing at home or download one.
Name the different colors, shapes, and textures used by the artist in that
drawing. Before doing this, be sure to observe and see the details of the
face and body of the person in that drawing. Record yourself as you
critic the drawing and send it on your teacher’s social media account.
