Throughout history, technology, engineering and geography have influenced how buildings are constructed. In the 18 th and 19th
centuries, buildings were often made using the locally available material, such as 1 brick, stone or 2 i . In the 20th

became much more widespread. It was cheap to produce and easy to transport. But by the
21st century, advances in technology meant that 4 s and glass were the favoured materials of the world’s leading
