Interceram 2

Cordierite has many applications due to its unique properties. It is widely used in refractory products like kiln furniture and gas burners. It is also used in electro-ceramics as resistors and fusibles. Recent research has focused on developing cordierite composites with mullite for thermal shock resistance and mechanical strength. Cordierite-ceria composites have also been developed for use in automotive catalytic converters due to cordierite's oxygen storage capacity.
