University of Sydney
Complete a Bachelor of Engineering Honours degree (4 years) in either Aeronautical Engineering,
Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanics, Biomedical, Chemical & biomolecular,
mechatronics or Software. You choose your major stream as above at the beginning of the first year
but if you can’t choose you can also complete a Flexible First year then choose a major stream in
your second year.

Option to undertake the Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Flexible First Year) in the following eight
streams:

• Aeronautical Engineering,
• Biomedical Engineering,
• Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering,
• Civil Engineering,
• Electrical Engineering,
• Mechanical Engineering,
• Mechatronic Engineering, and
• Software Engineering.
You’ll get a taste of each of these disciplines in your first semester to help you to decide where your
strengths and interests lie.

Required subjects: A Level: Grade of B in Mathematics or Further Mathematics is a pre-requisite.

Physics or Chemistry are highly recommended but not essential.

Entry requirements: Guaranteed entry if you achieve a ranked score of 92 or 15/16 in your A levels
(The first score listed is the requirement for three subjects, the second score is for four subjects. If
there are more than four subjects, the best four will be used to calculate the aggregate. The
aggregate is calculated from the A2 subjects based on A*=6, A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1)

English language requirements: If English is not your first language, you will need to provide proof of
your English proficiency before you can commence your studies at the University.
You can do this by demonstrating that you have completed specific secondary or tertiary
qualifications undertaken in English. You can demonstrate the above requirement through a record
of satisfactory achievement in a completed and recognised secondary education (high school)
qualification. You can also achieve this by taking an English language skills test. English language
skills tests we accept: IELTS, TOEFL iBT, Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic and Cambridge
