Activity 1:
Brainstorm the topic
 Do the warm-up routine. Play ‘Simon Says’ to revise prepositions.
Before you read
 Students to look at the pictures and the title to predict what the text is about. Read as many
suggestions as possible. Elicit synonym of the word kids and write them on the board. Listen to
audio track 20 and read the poem by taking turns. Discuss the vocabulary and theme of the poem
Activity 2:
Quick review of the poem by asking simple & critical thinking Qs to assess students’
comprehension. Students to give answers to the poem based Qs. Read the Language Detective; discuss
the rhythm of the poem by reading it slowly.
After you read Activity:
 Students will practice their pronunciation through, My turn your turn while working in pairs. Each
student will read a verse from the poem to their partner
Activity 3:
Play a game Activity:
 Students will work in groups and each group will prepare their description of a city i.e., what they
see there, what they hear there, where they live etc. Afterwards each group will share their
description with the class by reading aloud.
Talk about the poem
 After orally discussing the poem and answers to the given Qs, students will write the answers in
their notebooks.

Activity 1: Recap by asking random questions like Who came to the shop and what did he/she pay to buy
the beautiful pair of shoes?
Write the title of the reader on whiteboard and give a quick Recap of pgs. 30-33. Students to look and read the
text. Model reading and explanation of pgs 30-33 by the teacher. During reading, tell students about the pause
at the comma. Students will take turns to read the text and relate it to the picture. Let students take turns to
read the text and describe the pictures given on pg 30-33
Activity 2:
While working in pairs students to make thought bubbles with the characters and add notes
(thoughts) in the bubbles. Divide students in groups to practice who said the words to whom by selecting
different dialogues from the text and asking from each group
Activity 3:
Students to act out the conversation between the shoemaker and his wife. (Ref pg. 30-33), Invite
pars for class presentation
Q/Ans to be done on notebooks
Notebook work
1. At what time did the elves come to the cobbler’s shop?
2. What were the elves carrying along?

Activity 1:
Brainstorm the topic
Play a few rounds of ‘Simon Says’ to revise action words. For example, touch your head/ toes;
bend to the right/left, cross your legs, fold your arms, click your fingers etc. Discuss the ways in
which we can move. Elicit responses for all possible movements / actions. Elicit students’ responses
and write them on the board. Discuss why body movement is important to remain healthy.
Activity 2:
Students to listen to audio track 22 and read the poem ‘Reach for the sky’ and follow the
instruction to perform the actions stated in the poem. Reinforce the singular and plural nouns with body
parts, e.g., hand- hands, toe-toes, finger-fingers, arm-arms, ear- ears etc. Use of flash card is recommended
to revise body parts. Students will listen to the audio track 23 and get to know what Julia is doing. Look at
the big picture and point to the picture while listening to the poem.

Activity 3:
Practice the topic vocabulary by listening to the audio track 24. Students to work in pairs.
Student A to give instruction to Student B to mime the action. Ref to speech bubble given along the Ex3.
Say it and do it
Explain what students have to do in this activity. While working in pairs, student A to give three instructions
to Student B who will try to follow the three instructions at a time Give students plenty of opportunity for
body movement such as, running, jumping, skipping, hopping, marching, rolling, leaping, balancing, turning
and postures. Counting to 20 Play the audio track 25 to let students get familiar with the instructions.
Students will count up to 20 in different ways. Write a chant Read the chant and guide students to write
one of their own, rhyming with counting

Activity 1:
Brainstorm the topic/ Recap the topic
Activity:
Elicit all the job words using the snow ball game. Students will name professions that they know of. Write
the vocabulary on the board.

Activity 2:
Students to name the professions shown in the pictures. Listen to audio track 15 and read the
sentences from the Learner’s book focusing on the –er sound. Through board work explain how addition of
–er creates a new word depicting profession name. Students will come by taking turns to act out any of the
role using a prop. They will speak a sentence about the profession they are acting out upon. Example: Use a
paper and pen as prop and say the following sentence.
 I am a writer, I write.
Model the activity to help out the class.
Activity 3:
The Firefighter
Focus on the picture, discuss and elicit questions about the job of a firefighter. Students to listen to the
audio track 16 and point to the things Mr. Lucas is talking about. Read the text and Qs. Ask the students to
listen to the text again focusing on the Qs. Elicit answers of the given Qs to assess students’ comprehension.
Interview your teacher Activity:
Students to pretend as they are working in a TV Show called ‘Jobs’. They will interview their teachers by
taking turns to ask about their job. Refer to the class discussion vocabulary and the tense practiced in the
class.
