 Course Description
This course will provide a whole picture of human relations in education in terms of
theory and practice. Related issues and challenges in school settings are to be discussed
all together in order for more vivid understanding on the topic. In fact, it is not possible
to deal with all issues and topics regarding human relations in education field having
very broad areas. However, each topic and related reading will be argued and challenged
by reading, in-class presentation, and group discussion among various points of view on
the human relations in education so far.

 Purpose of the Course


- Purpose
The purpose of the course is that class participants will have full understanding regarding
the theories of human relations in the field of educational administration. In order to
cope with various situations practically in school settings, school leaders and education
researchers all need to understand how important human relations are by studying and
researching human relations theories and practices. Most of all, this course will encourage
students to understand theories and specific issues about human relations in schools.
Then, while reviewing the many different frameworks covered in the course, each student
will have one’s own point of view on issues, challenges, policies, and future pictures on
human relations in schools.

- Aims
1. Obtaining the knowledge of human relations in the field of educational
administration;
2. Understanding what happened in schools regarding human relationship issues;
3. Arguing for or against the current issues of human relations theories and practices;
4. Forming and presenting a one’s own point of view of human relations in education

 Course Requirement
- Attending regularly each class;
- Completing the given weekly reading material;
- Making a presentation on a given topic;
- Participating actively in each class discussion;
- Writing one book review and one final paper.

 Course Evaluation
- Attendance (20%)
 3 absences and over to be dismissed

- Writing Assignments (50%)

 Paper submission date is 3rd week (due by 3rd week midnight) and
submit on eTL.
 How to do? First just read the book, summarize it briefly and critically
evaluate it in English (for example, apply for Korean education cases,
issues and etc., logically reorganize the book, or you can throw
questions for the field of educational administration~!!!).
 A4 2-3 pages, single space, Times and New Roman, Size 12.
 Final Paper (40%)
“Using the frameworks or theories we have covered in this course, describe and
explain the current Korean education issue or problem which attracts your
interest. Then, make some policy implications and suggestions to tackle it.”
 Paper due is until 15TH week (last class) and submit on eTL.
 A4 12-15 pages, double space, Times and New Roman, Size 12.
