PMS Assignment

The document describes a continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) with two inlet flows (F1 and F2) and two soluble components (A and B). It presents mass balances to model the reactor's dynamic behavior and determine the outlet concentrations (CA2, CB2, CC2, CD2) and conversion (X). The model accounts for the reaction of components A and B to form components C and D, with rate R defined by a kinetic expression involving concentrations and rate constant K. The objective is to solve the system of equations to find the outlet concentrations and conversion over time.

DESCRIPTION:

Consider the mixing vessel having continuous input and output material with known flows F1
and F2. The inlet and outlet flows consist of a solvent that contains two soluble components A
and B. The inlet concentrations are CA1 and CB1. The reactor contents contain four Components
A, B, C, D having stoichiometric ratios a, b, c and d. Therefore, the outlet concentrations are C A2,
CB2, CC2, CD2. The initial concentrations of CC1 and CD1 are zero, therefore θC and θD become zero.
The conversion of the whole reaction is defined by X.

OBJECTIVE:

To develop a dynamic model to find out the outlet concentrations and conversion.
