This document discusses the theoretical framework and justification for a research study investigating the impact of a competitive environment on the mental health and behavior of senior high school students. The theoretical framework is structural functionalism, which views society as an organism where each element contributes to stability and relies on others. The competition may contribute to social stability by providing clear paths to success, but could also have unintended consequences like deteriorating mental health and stress. Functionalism will aid the research by differentiating intentional and unintentional behaviors and known versus unknown impacts, and help evaluate the values fostered in a competitive setting and their effects on student behavior overall.

Functionalism (structural functionalism)
Theoretical - It is a theoretical framework that says, society is more than the Framework: combination of its components since each one contributes to the stability of the whole. Since each element of society serves an essential role but relies on others to function, Durkheim viewed society as an organism. When one component is in crisis, the others must change in order to fill the void. - This theoretical framework Guides the conceptual basis of my Justification: study, which is Investigating the Impact of a Competitive Environment on the Mental Health and Behavior of Senior High School Students, and how structural functionalism can provide valuable insights to support the idea of my research. A further component that contributes to functionalism and supports my studies is social alliance. Researchers can evaluate how the competition affects student social bonds by looking into how it affects shared objectives, beliefs, or behaviors. Furthermore, it implies that competition in a high school environment may contribute to social stability by providing a clear path to success and achievement. It might also establish norms and benchmarks for efficiency and conduct. My research study is unquestionably aided by functionalism, considering it makes it easier to detect and differentiate between intentional and unintended behavior, as well as the results of known and unrecognized repercussions. This makes it simpler for me to examine the advantages of my research, including the students' increased motivation as a result of the competitive setting and any unforeseen consequences like their mental health deteriorating and resulting in stress or even depression. Lastly, Researching competitiveness enables one to evaluate the values fostered in a competitive high school setting and how they affect students' behavior. This component of functionalism helps my research to highlight the significance of common standards and principles in preserving social harmony as a whole.
