I. Introduction
The Israel-Palestine conflict remains one of the most protracted and complex issues on the international agenda,
characterized by deep-rooted historical grievances and ongoing violence. As a responsible member of the United
Nations Security Council (UNSC), India recognizes the urgent need to address the pervasive violence and terrorism
in the region. This position paper outlines India's stance on countering violence and terrorism in the Israel-Palestine
conflict within the framework of the UNSC.
II. History
India affirms its commitment to the principles of international law, including the UN Charter, and emphasizes the
importance of a comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. The following principles
guide India's approach:
Two-State Solution: India supports the establishment of a viable, independent, and sovereign State of Palestine
coexisting peacefully alongside Israel, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of
Palestine.
Collective opposition against terrorism: In1999 when India went to war with Pakistan and Israel proved willing to
provide arms and ammunition. It was the beginning of a defense relationship that has grown exponentially. Thus,
both, having a collective stand against terrorism and violence.
Peaceful Negotiations: India encourages all parties to engage in meaningful and unconditional negotiations,
facilitated by international mediators, to address the core issues, including borders, refugees, security,
India’s position on this conflict has been clear, the conflict to be resolved peacefully without curtailing the rights of
any nation. Condemning all the terroristic practices and hostaging of citizens and aiding international law.
Just a few hours after Hamas launched its assault on Israel, India was among the first nations to respond. In a
strongly worded statement, India’s Prime Minister condemned the “terrorist attacks” and said India “stands in
solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour”.
India was among the countries that did not back a Un resolution for a ‘ humanitarian truce’ in Gaza instead choosing
to abstain.
India recognizes the detrimental impact of violence and terrorism on the peace process and underscores the need for
