How do I create a Duolingo for Schools
account?
If you want to start using Duolingo for Schools (for free!) right now, head over to
schools.duolingo.com.
By selecting “Get Started,” from either the navigation bar on the top right or one of the buttons
on the page, you will be directed to a page that will prompt you to input the information needed
to create an account.

If you already have a Duolingo account, you can use that same account to sign in by selecting
“Login” on the top right-hand corner of the page.
If you don’t have an account, no worries! Simply enter your information on the “Getting Started”
page and get ready to Duolingo!
How do I create a classroom on
Duolingo for Schools?
If you are new to Duolingo for Schools, you will be invited to create your first class during the
registration process. After you’ve entered your personal information, you will be invited to
input the specifics required to generate your first online classroom.

On the other hand, if you already have a classroom on Duolingo for Schools, you’ll follow a
different process to add additional classes. From your teacher dashboard, select the “New
Class” button located at the bottom of the sidebar on the left.
This will direct you to the same classroom creation screen that you saw when creating your
Duolingo for Schools account. Simply provide the information, click “Finish,” and begin creating
gamified, individualized learning experiences for your students!
How do I add students to my Duolingo
classroom?
Once you’ve created your classroom, you can add students a few ways:

Add students by sharing the classroom link

With this option, you will provide your students with a link that takes them to Duolingo to login to
an existing account or create a new one.

Add students by sending them your class code

Looking for a more efficient way to share the link? Ask your students to visit
duolingo.com/classroom and enter your class access code in order to become a member of
your class.
Add students by creating accounts for them
To use this option, select the “add directly” tab. From there, simply follow the instructions in the
gray box to add your students’ information.
Start adding your students’ names. If they have email addresses, enter a comma after each
name and add their emails. If they do not have email addresses, check out this article! When
you are done adding names, press "Next." From there, you will be brought to a review screen to
make any needed edits or adjustments. This screen will also let you know if some of your
students already have a Duolingo account. We’ll send these students an email invitation to have
them join your class.
Once you have verified all of the information, you can download the login information for your
students to set up their accounts and you're all set! Additionally, an email will be sent containing
a roster of student usernames and passwords for your reference. Once your students log in,
they will be able to change their usernames, emails, and passwords at any time in their settings.
Let's start learning!
How do I create an assignment in my
Duolingo classroom?
Looking to assign work to your students? Begin by navigating to the teacher dashboard at
schools.duolingo.com. Choose the class that you’d like to create an assignment for on the left
side of the screen.

From there, simply select “Create XP Assignment” on the right. Using the pop-up box that
appears next, you can set the amount of XP, add classes to the assignment, and select the date
students will begin working on it, as well as the deadline for the assignment.
Select "Assign" for the final time to push the assignment to your students’ accounts so they can
get learning!
