Greetings of Peace and Good Health!

As stated in Regional Memorandum no. 137, s. 2018, Filipino Values Month should be observed. The Presidential
Proclamation no. 479, s. 1994 was a basis of this celebration which states that “the celebration of Filipino Values
Month regularly is a desirable and effective measure to create moral awakening and national consciousness on
human values that are unique, genuine, and positively Filipino.” In relation to these, the DepEd Memorandum no.
177, s. 2017 stipulates that the observance of Filipino Values Month in November of every school year which started
2017-2018 and thereafter.

In line with this, the EsP Department would like to request for your approval regarding our planned Filipino Values
Month Celebration with the theme, “Pagpapaunlad ng Pagkatao, Pakikipagkapuwa, at Pananampalataya: Hamon sa
Panahon ng Pandemya” that will commence on November 15 to 29, 2021. Various activities will be done as contests
that will be participated by the students and judged by the EsP teachers. Announcement of winners will be on
November 29, 2021 through posting in our Justino Sevilla HS Official Facebook Account. Additional points in EsP as
incentives will be given to participants and winners.

Here are the activities for the said celebration:

Grade 7 – Poster Making Contest Grade 9 – Song Composition
Grade 8 – Values Exposition Grade 10 – Spoken Poetry

Attached herewith are the guidelines for each set of activities mentioned above.

GUIDELINES FOR POSTER MAKING CONTEST

(Grade 7)

1. All Grade 7 students can participate in the poster making contest.

2. They will use a ¼ illustration board for their art, oil pastel, or crayons.
3. Participants should explain the theme through their posters. Less words in their art is encouraged.
4. Online submission of posters will be on November 22, 2021 in the Google Drive provided. Upload a solo and
clear picture of the poster made and another picture with the participant holding the art.
5. Judging of the posters will be on November 23, 2021. The decision of the board of judges will be final and
irrevocable.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

Standards Description Percentage

Relevance The poster made should be relevant to the theme explaining its 40%
essence and significance through art.
Creativity The poster should be original, unique, and aesthetically made. 40%
Neatness The poster should be neatly made without error marks. 20%

GUIDELINES FOR VALUES EXPOSITION CONTEST

(Grade 8)

1. All Grade 8 students can participate in the values exposition contest.

2. Participants should explain the theme and additional Filipino values related to the pandemic through their
articulate words.
3. They will submit a video recording of their 3-5 minutes speech. Wearing of decent clothes is a must.
4. Online submission of video recordings will be on November 22, 2021 in the Google Drive provided.
5. Judging of the videos will be on November 24, 2021. The decision of the board of judges will be final and
irrevocable.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

Standards Description Percentage

Relevance The speech should be relevant to the theme explaining its 40%
essence and significance through words.
Originality The speech should be original, unique, and direct to the point. 40%
Articulation The speech should be articulately spoken, clear, and without 20%
mistakes.

GUIDELINES FOR SONG COMPOSITION CONTEST

(Grade 9)

1. All Grade 9 students can participate in the song composition contest.

2. Participants should explain the theme through their originally made song with 4-6 stanzas including the
chorus and bridge.
3. They will sing their song with or without accompaniment and submit a video recording of it. Wearing of
decent clothes is a must. The written song can be sung by another Grade 9 student/s provided that the
composer should still be in the video. Recording in a quiet place is highly encouraged.
4. Online submission of video recordings will be on November 22, 2021 in the Google Drive provided.
5. Judging of the original song and videos will be on November 25, 2021. The decision of the board of judges
will be final and irrevocable.

Relevance The song made should be relevant to the theme explaining its 40%
essence and significance through music.
Originality The song should be original, unique, and inspiring. 30%
Musicality The song should be articulately sung, clear, and with a catchy 30%
rhythm and melody.

GUIDELINES FOR SPOKEN POETRY CONTEST

(Grade 10)

1. All Grade 10 students can participate in the spoken poetry contest.

2. Participants should explain the theme through their originally made poem that has 5-7 stanzas. They should
provide a title for their piece.
3. They will submit a video recording of their 3-5 minutes performance. Wearing of decent clothes is a must.
4. Online submission of video recordings will be on November 22, 2021 in the Google Drive provided.
5. Judging of the video performances will be on November 26, 2021. The decision of the board of judges will be
final and irrevocable.
