Petra20: I recently discovered graphic novels when my friend Joe lent me

Mooncakes to read. I had never seen this kind of book before.
What an incredible combination of plot and artwork! The illustrations
really bring this fairy tale to life. In the story, Nova, a teenage witch,
finds her old friend Tam, a werewolf, in the forest. Together, they
fight bad spirits – and fall in love! It’s a fantastic story! I can’t wait
to read more graphic novels! Can you please share your favourites
with me?

Kate111: I loved Grand Theft Horse by Greg Neri and Corban Wilkin. It’s the
true story of Gail Ruffu, a racehorse trainer. Together, she and some
other trainers owned a horse called Urgent Envoy. Gail loved
Urgent Envoy, but she felt the other owners were pushing him too
hard. She was afraid her horse would get hurt, so she ran away with
him. There was a long court case, but Gail didn’t quit fighting to
protect the horse she loved. It’s a really inspiring story!
Petra20: Thanks, Kate. I must read that!
Jack222: Try Through the Woods by Emily Carroll. It’s a collection of five fairy
tales, and believe me – they aren’t ordinary ones! The characters in
these stories uncover horrible secrets. In Our Neighbour’s House,
for example, sisters visit a neighbour and realise that he isn’t human.
Carroll creates more drama by using only black, white, red and blue
in her illustrations. The effect is thrilling and terrifying – but maybe
you should avoid reading this book on your own late at night!

Petra20: Sounds like an exciting book, but too frightening for me!
Mario909: The best graphic novel I’ve read is Monster, an adaptation of the
famous novel by Walter Dean Myers. It’s about Steve Harmon,
a 16-year-old African-American boy. The police believed he had
murdered someone, so they captured him and put him in juvenile
prison. Now he is waiting for his court case to end. Is he guilty or
innocent? You’ll have to read the book and decide for yourself.
Petra20: Thanks – I will!
