Reading
7 Read the posts about talent shows. Match people A–C with questions
1–5. Each person matches two questions.
A People who own cats say that these animals always look like they know
what you are thinking. I watched some little cats doing all kinds of things on a TV
show last week. They were so sociable. I have one of these lovely animals too, but
the only thing she does is sleep! She seems to sleep all day and never does
anything. I know people say these animals look clever, but I didn’t know you could
train them to do tricks.
B Last week, I saw something on television that was so funny! A man kept
talking to his parrot, and it talked back to him. The parrot picked things up from the
table and put them into red, blue and yellow boxes. The bird was very beautiful, and
had such bright and colourful feathers. I think I want a parrot now, and I want to have
a conversation with it. Right now, I’m talking to my dog, but he isn’t answering!
C I saw something amazing last week. I’m scared of snakes, so I was happy
that this one was only on television. Dad was frightened watching the show, but I
don’t think the owner of the snake was. He was calm, and he could get his snake to
do what he wanted. These animals are usually quite aggressive, so you have to be
very careful with them. I’m happy to just have my spider, thanks!
