CYBER BULLYING
In the 21st century, numerous innovations have greatly facilitated many aspects of our
lives. Among these innovations that have revolutionized our way of life and perception of the
world is the internet. It is a global system of interconnected computer networks utilizing the
standard Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide. The internet is
a network of networks comprising millions of private, public, academic, business, and
government networks, ranging from local to global scope, interconnected by a diverse array
of electronic, wireless, and optical networking technologies. The internet has brought about
numerous positive impacts, making our work more effective and efficient. However, akin to
the Yin and Yang philosophy, the internet also brings forth many negative impacts that need
to be filtered through. One of the negative impacts that has harmed many individuals is
cyberbullying.
Cyberbullying is one of the issues we face on social media; hence, we must intensify
education about bullying. Why do we assert this? Firstly, Cyberbullying has negative impacts
on the victims, leading them towards depression due to the actions of the perpetrators.
Depression results in a decreased interest in previously enjoyed activities and excessive
anxiety in the victims. Secondly, cyberbullying victims experience loneliness and isolation.
This issue arises from the comments made by perpetrators on social media, causing victims to
dwell on these remarks. Consequently, victims tend to withdraw and isolate themselves to
avoid encountering people who know them. Thirdly, cyberbullying victims might resort to
drug consumption and become addicted. They turn to drugs in the belief that it will
permanently soothe their feelings, potentially leading to drug addiction. Lastly, after
experiencing depression, self-isolation, and drug consumption, victims might contemplate
suicide, leading to their demise. This tragic outcome can leave the victim’s family devastated
by the loss.

empathy and respect for others’ feelings is crucial. Encouraging individuals to treat others
with kindness and understanding in online interactions can significantly reduce instances of
cyberbullying. Teaching empathy fosters a culture of compassion and discourages harmful
behavior. Additionally, cultivating critical thinking skills is pivotal in combating
